"Big company, massive problems"
This company (Southfields Veterinary Specialists at Cranes Point) which is part of the Linnaeus / Mars series of companies preaches that it looks after it's Associates and treated everyone well - now for the reality.
Let me tell you it is no fun to work for them either. There is no money to change things that are wrong, all they care about is profit. There are staff shortages and no one is happy, there is a massive turnover of staff constantly. If you are there for a year you will be lucky.
Management at site are awful, they put more and more on you, often ill informed, ill trained, make incorrect decisions, rule with an iron fist. Their only driving force is not patient care and welfare but money. You have to beg, borrow and steal to get the resources you need.
Other staff - what I will say though is staff at ground level are excellent, many of them care very passionately about their roles and the work they do but with both hands tied behind you back it's very hard and on most it has taken it's toll. The building is very new but already has quite a few problems mainly because it has been built on the cheap, now there is a surprise.
Ignore all the corporate spin and do not use them or join up with them as a member of staff, if you do then get as much as you can out of them and then move on as that is what most people do. Over the past year they have lost a lot of staff, many positions have been left unfilled for a long time as they cannot get people to fill or stay long enough. If they could keep their staff they wouldn't have to do this in the first place. Improvement in conditions and work life badly needed. If you are a customer then staff will do their very best for your animal but the company will try to get a ridiculous amount of money out of you and they do not care!

"Money, money, money"
Money, money, money that's all they want. I'm sure they have targets to meet.
Charged me £46 for an ointment that is £8 in boots.
Recommended my dog has his eye removed for £8000 cos he had a benign tumour behind it. Other option was 5 days radiotherapy for £10,0000.
Got 2nd opinion and was advised not to remove eye at all as vision is fine.
Just want money and eager for your dog to stay overnight with them so they can charge you more.
I would nor use again

"Awful experience."
To be honest, it’s not even worth 1 star. Google reviews are clearly written by themselves, because by looking on here they do not truly reflect people’s experience with them.
Where do I begin. To cut a very long story short, my dog hurt her paw, we went to our vets for x rays who sent them to Southfields. Southfields then said she had broken a bone and to rest her. After a long period of rest it didn’t improve, and she was still lame on 3 legs. We opted to be seen by Southfields, who after many x rays said there was nothing wrong with her, even though they gave the initial diagnosis. They wouldn’t accept this however, but left my dog bleeding on her stomach from the clamps, and terrified as the vet we had was awful with her - not trying to calm or reassure her once. After nearly £2000, they discharged us and told us to rest her. We did so AGAIN, but again it didn’t improve. We opted to go to Queen Mother Royal Veterinary College and they were fantastic. The vets themselves were kind, reassuring and actually listened to us and our concerns. They x rayed her, and behold - a broken bone was found. Which Southfields ‘couldn’t see’. She had an operation and is doing so much better.
I put a complaint in with Southfields and have heard absolutely nothing since the original acknowledgment. I have emailed time and time again, with no response. My last email providing the report from RVC, was sent beginning of September and I have not even had an acknowledgment to this one. It’s funny… their communications was amazing when taking the money from us!!! They are beyond incompetent, and I wouldn’t ever take my dog near them or their establishment. Awful service, awful experience. Please please avoid! If you can, go to Royal Veterinary College.
I have tried to sort this out through emails and contact, however they are beyond useless - and I am note going through other avenues to complain formally, including speaking with RCVS.

"Money first, animal welfare last."
I was referred to Southfields by my own vet.
This horrendous experience will stay with me for a very long time.
The initial consultation was thorough, the initial vet I spoke to seemed semi interested, at just shy of £500 it was steep but I was assured I was doing the right thing - that's where it ended.
Southfields refused to use any of the diagnostic imaging or scans which my own vet had done just 2 weeks earlier, insisting that I must have all imaging redone (at a cost of £3.5k)
I was charged just shy of £20 on top of that for 2 paracetamol tablets (yes, 2 single tablets, the kind you buy in the supermarket for 39p)
My dog deteriorated once on medication for what had been diagnosed, Southfields refused to see her and insisted I go back to my own referring vet.
My own vet could then re refer after the bank holiday.
At a total loss as to what to do my own vet nursed my dog through, Southfields weren't interested.
Eventually I managed to get an appointment and took her back in, my dog was taken off me and I have no idea what they did to her in that short time but she lost the use of her legs, I begged to be able to see her, all they were interested in was me agreeing to more scans and tests and more expensive medications.
When I was able to see her on a Sunday - having been told they were too busy to allow owners too come in, I immediately asked for her to euthanised, she was so so poorly and pumping all these drugs into her was having no effect.
I was told that had she been insured and cost wasn't such a huge influencer they could do more for her - they couldn't!
I was made to feel that because I self fund - the money is there, I just chose to question ever single procedure and ask why and what the benefit to the dog is.
Because of this I was made to feel I being neglectful.
So in little over 2 weeks, I spent in excess of £10k and still had to beg for my dog to be put out of her misery.
You might think this was where the awful experience would end, sadly not. I was hounded for the final bill payment but not supplied with an invoice, when I did get an invoice I could see that I had been billed for a number of things I didn't have, like 12hrs intensive nursing AFTER she had been euthanised.
I was hounded daily by the customer 'care' team, sent a link to the payment portal, eventually I spoke to someone in finance who amended the bill.
The final nail in the coffin was the laminated paw prints that arrived over a month after her death, laminated and cut into a heart shape, something you might be proud of you 5 year old child for producing, not a large practice with a dedicated customer care team!
So that's all I have to remember my faithful little dog by.
Her last days suffering in a kennel in the hospital, me unable to see her and advocate for her to put out of her suffering, Southfields pumping her full of drugs to keep her going and run up a huge bill.
Very telling that once she had passed the vet said there was no amount of scans or medication that would have reversed what she had been diagnosed with.
The only care being dispensed by Southfields is for the payment, overinflated prices, awful customer care and animal welfare at the very bottom of the list!
Steer well clear of this practice, for the good of your beloved pet!

"Put the pet 1st."
We were referred to Southfields, by an emergency vet. My experience of their professionalism is somewhat clouded by their ignorance to the suffering of my dog. Playing god, and manipulating vulnerable owners needs to be reviewed. This terrible experience I have endured will stay with me the rest of my life.

"Still not sure what am I paying for"
Our vet referred my cat to Southfields. I took my cat to the practice and paid the invoice in full, but I did not request the complete invoice (an unfortunate decision). After some time, I received a call from them saying that I still needed to pay £125.48. I asked what treatments I needed to pay for and why they were charging me after my visit. The receptionist said they would check and get back to me, but it did not happen.
I had to return with my cat for an additional treatment and was asked to pay this outstanding fee again. And again, I was told they would check the treatments and call me, but it didn't happen.
Then I received an email saying that I must pay this fee and started receiving SMS reminders. I asked again what these treatments were that would sum up to £125.48 and why I received this after the invoice was paid in full (I have a breakdown of the invoice with this additional fee). They explained to me that some treatment costs went through after my visit, but I still can't receive an answer about what these treatments are.
Additionally, I noticed they charged me twice for my cat's sedation (for first 30 minutes). They admitted the mistake and owe me £31.99, but they deducted £125.48, which is unfair as I still have no idea what I am paying for.

"Would highly recommend Southfiels…"
My miniature dachshund Hugo was referred as he had high calcium levels in his blood. The initial consultation was very expensive and it was recommended that he had a scan which lead to him having to have surgery to remove a nodule from his thyroid. The whole experience for me and Hugo was fantastic, everyone that had any dealings with us were very kind and compassionate and very obviously animal lovers. Yes, it was very expensive and we are OAP's but one must be a responsible pet owner and take out insurance which covers most of the cost . Glad to say Hugo back to his usual happy self

"Would Highly Recommend"
My dog Jerry had lymphoma cancer & brain tumour & was incredibly sick. My vets referred Jerry to Southfields & they treated him with dignity & respect. He was seen very quickly & had chemotherapy. He is now thankfully in complete remission & is like a puppy again (he’s 11 years old) He’s been given a new lease of life due to the treatment that he had at Southfields, really can’t thank them enough for giving my dog a new lease of life. All the staff there are so helpful & friendly, even when he goes for his 6 weekly check ups, the nurses all want to see him & give him treats. They make an awful situation so exciting for him, that he actually looks forward to going there & can’t wait to get in there. Thank you to everyone there for all your kindness & help towards Jerry. Would highly recommend them.

"Money grabbing immoral vets"
After being ripped off by our pet insurance we found ourselves in the dilemma of putting our dog down or raising the money for his operation. We choose to take on the financial burden
Southfields do nothing for free. They are all about the money they have no care for the dogs or their owners. After pleading for a bandage change for free we were declined and charged £160 for a 5 minute bandage change even though we have paid well over £7000 to them for our dog. I have nothing good to say about them now and will be escalating my complaint to the royal college of vets . The people operating this organisation should be truly ashamed of them selves

"WARNING"
WARNING! The only thing they care about is money, money, money. I was referred to them by a local vets. They told me it would cost £8-£10,000 and my puppy needed operating on urgently - I had to tell them to put my puppy down - with my children screaming and crying please don’t kill him. I managed to get hold of my local vets and he told me to race my puppy to him. But Southfields refused to release the dying puppy without £900 plus all my insurance documents in hand 3am.
Which I did.
I drove 2 hours round trip and my local vets checked him over but Southfields refused to forward any blood results or scans and these had to be done again at more cost.
In the end the puppy was saved and is an enormous part of our family - total cost £2500!
Southfields then charged an extra £900 - total £1800 fir what?
I tried complaining- appealing mediation !
Always on deaf ears.
Just threars of debt collect or court!
Scammed !!!
