"incredibly underwhelmed and Burnt Out!"

incredibly underwhelmed and disappointed in the experience I had at Burns Sheehan’s London office.
As an experienced hire and having worked in the industry for a reasonable amount of time I can categorically say that this is THE WORST BUISESS I HAVE EVER WORKED FOR.

Micromanagement is a very hot topic, often discussed on the sales floor. An example is: I was not permitted to do my job without signoff from the MD which is undermining and not time efficient. He monitors everything you do and even threatened me with putting KPI’s against my WhatsApp messages that I was sending to my candidates. From my own personal number and iPhone may I add.
I found his intense appetite for control unfathomable and unprofessional. He emails and Teams 24/7 a day. Even when you have your OOO on he wants a reply. He does not respect personal time and on a Friday when you are meant to finish early, he will send a barrage of emails or call you so you can’t finish early.

The Business has very poor benefits and bring little value to its people and their personal and professional development. There is no training and no L&D from the day your on boarding is completed you are left to sink or swim.
Incentives are only for senior management and a selected favourites ONLY and they are done on a VERY restricted budget… What is the point?
I do not believe a free piece of fruit and instant coffee is a benefit (they count it as one), it’s a human need when you are working 12 hr days. It is actually the very least that they can provide.

You are expected to entertain with your own money and will be reimbursed (only if they like you and approve it) at the end of the month. In person meets are KPI’d so you must do them in order to be kept off a PIP – If this is the case how about a company credit card OR debit card?
I also really don’t like the fact that I was charged for my recruiter licence as it is a tool I require to do my job with. I was never afforded a company phone and had to use my own as well. It should not cost me money to do my job as a permanent member of staff these costs should fall on the business.

I had multiple (coffee, without coffee) catch ups with HR where my personal style of communication were raised as well as my work attire (when working from home may I add and not when in the office or meeting candidates) these were raised to me as areas I must improve on.
When I decided to respond and question these unfair and subjective claims to HR I was told to stop “trying to hard”.

I found myself under a constant and unpermitted harsh gaze by the business and got sick of HR pretending to be my friend on the front of it and then throwing me under the bus to the other leaders (yes some of them are happy to share with you what other leaders have said about you) resulting in damage to my personal and professional brand.

People are simply not respected and there is no ED&I either in fact I found that my personal talents and personality were shunned and frowned upon resulting in low self-esteem, self-doubt and over all had a greatly negative on my mental health and wellbeing.

The business has been facing financial hardship for some time, this has resulted in a major push on business dev, even if you were not hired for this reason, you will be bullied and your hand forced, should you push back on this then rest assured your job will be on the line and you will be fired just like the many that came before you.
