"This is my second Optimum watch which has failed in short order"
This is my second Optimum watch. The first one after about 2 years if that just went haywire, the timer just stopped or changed time during the starting sequence. the second after less than 3 months use is leaking with moisture getting into the screen and misting up the display

"Optimum Time - Sailing watch with a short live span"
Sorry to say my 2012 sailing watch has packed up after only 3 years of Sunday morning racing. It took it to Vasilliki on holiday and the salt water must have done for it. It seems to have leaked through behind the face somewhere as I could see condensation inside the glass. I sent it back and they confirmed that it was cattled. They offered a replacement at £25. The original was twice that and considering it was only used for about 3 years on a fresh water lake once a week, I think it is bad value, so I will look elsewhere for a replacement. Some other guys at my club have cheap casio type watches that seem to last for ever.
