"Holding payout for 3 months, working with Ecommpay = hassle"

We received an email from Sales Ecommpay on November 15, 2022, offering us their service as an alternative to Stripe. We agreed and began our onboarding process on November 17, 2022.

The onboarding itself was a significant hassle: numerous questions were asked that are typically not required by other payment systems. For example, we had to print onboarding documents, sign them with a notary, and send them back to Ecommpay's office in Cyprus. Everything had to be discussed with a responsible person, and we had to agree on each detail with different individuals. In contrast, other payment systems allow you to complete all these steps automatically on their websites.

The main reason we decided to switch from Stripe to Ecommpay was their confirmation that we could receive crypto payouts for an extra 1%. This turned out to be false. They referred us to third parties who were unresponsive, and Ecommpay did not assist us despite advertising crypto payouts as their primary advantage over competitors.

After three months, in February 2023, we finally completed the onboarding process, set up everything with Ecommpay, and received the secret keys for processing, despite our prompt responses to their questions. The process took so long because they requested many things that other processors do not. We decided to continue using Stripe because the onboarding itself was such a hassle. However, we wanted a fallback option in case we encountered issues with our main payment processor, so we kept our account with Ecommpay. Two months later, they informed us that we had to pay 1,000 EUR monthly just to maintain the account. We paid it and decided to give it a try in September 2023. It was a bad idea.

I was asked to have a video call, pass video verification, and describe myself as the owner. Other payment systems never asked for such things. While it's acceptable, all these "additional tasks" take up your time. The number of such tasks that Ecommpay requires is excessive.

Disadvantages of Ecommpay that other processors don't have:
1) Responding to chargebacks: You have to respond to each chargeback by email to their chargeback-responsible person. You cannot do this on your own on their website. You are given only seven days to respond compared to 40 days with other payment systems.

2) You must use only the bank account you entered in the agreement. In our case, we initially entered bank account #1 in the agreement, but then we had to switch to bank account #2. Ecommpay refused to approve our bank account #2, despite it being legitimate according to all UK regulations and their obligation to approve it.

After we started complaining to Ecommpay about not being able to withdraw our funds to crypto as initially agreed, and after waiting six weeks for approval to withdraw crypto with their third-party company, Ecommpay asked us for additional verification documents.
When we registered with them, we informed them that we had a virtual office and no employees in the UK. They approved us. But in 2 months of working it became an issue.

I had to withdraw funds to my personal cards as the owner with an extra 2% fee (compared to free bank account withdrawals), plus an additional 4.8% to buy crypto to pay my contractors, whose payouts were already delayed by two weeks due to Ecommpay's negligence. Fortunately, I live in the UAE, where there is 0% tax on personal income. If I lived in the EU or USA, like many potential Ecommpay customers, I wouldn't have been able to withdraw those funds, and our contractors would have been left without payment. Their families would have suffered, and we would have lost our business. In total, I lost $30,000. I tell myself it was a lesson, at least I didn't lose my business, and the contractors received their money.

On November 16, 2023, we ended this nightmare by signing a termination letter and returned to our previous payment provider, Stripe. We never experienced such hassle with Stripe. Zero questions asked.

In February 2024, our 5% hold (which was for 90 days by agreement) became available for withdrawal. It was another hassle. We confirmed with Ecommpay that we could get the final payout to the owner's personal bank account and provided three bank accounts in two different countries (UAE and Georgia). The withdrawal to the Georgian bank account was denied by their MLRO three weeks after we provided all the details. Why? We then provided a UAE bank account, which was also denied in 2 weeks. Finally, we provided a UK company bank account, which was approved after three weeks, and today, May 27, 2024, we received our payout.

When I spoke with a competitor, they confirmed that they also had issues with Ecommpay, such as frequent payout delays.

If you want to go through all of that, feel free to use Ecommpay.

"Strange SSL Certificate"

I received a payment link from this site while I am booking for holidays. The payment site paymentpage.ecommpay.com uses Lets Encrypt certificate and does not even have a Organization unit (name of the organization). All of this looks dubious. Not sure if this is real or fake. I am not paying.
