"Great experience"
Great experience. I rented XOXO WiFi for a 10 day road-trip across the South Eastern USA (TX, AR, TN, MS, AL, GA, FL). Received the device in the Czech Republic, so I could have it active when I hit the ground in the US. Delivery was fast, about 3 days after ordering. I primarily used it to make IP calls to avoid roaming fees, as well as check e-mRead more about review stating Great - USA road trip
ail, chats, and research hotels, travel destinations. Speed was great, connectivity was good, of course some weak spots in rural areas. Only negative is the FUP throttling at 500MB/day, usually shouldn't be a problem but I accidentally hit this when my phone did a backup (it's set to do this when on WIFI - as assumes WIFI is a free connection). Subsequently learned that XOXO's website has instructions how to check usage, so check their FAQ for this as it could help monitor usage. Service was great, and the device is light convenient and had a long battery life (8+ hours).

"Recommended - works as advertised/expected"
I used xoxo wifi with base (cheapest) package for United Arab Emirates (with data transfer cap for high speed connection). All was fine. Specifically:
1. I received the device on time (I used courier service to my Polish address).
2. I switched it on in UAE (after arrival to Dubai) on first day of the package validity. Connection established, speed you would expect from modern LTE router... Just fine.
3. Connection very stable (Dubai area).
4. I never hit daily data transfer cap, but I used it for light tasks - internet sites, e-mail, Google maps - so typical needs of the tourist doing sightseeing, etc. I did not use it for anything like Netflix - data cap was too low for that (but I knew it upfront).
5. I typically had 2 mobile phones connected to it on ongoing basis.
6. Battery in router was surviving full day of use, although it was close to 0 on one or two days (out of 15 days). I did not have to use powerbank, which I had just in case.
7. Charging the router to full battery indeed was taking few (3-4?) hours - in line with user guide. I was charging overnight.
Overall - works as expected. No issues. Can recommend. I will use it again, when travelling to locations outside EU.

"BEWARE of their so-called "unlimited" package!"
# BEWARE of their so-called "unlimited" Package!! #
Company charges 13.6€/day for so-called "unlimited" highspeed connection in Europe but the reality is, it's NOT unlimited! There is a daily cap around 3GB.
Before renting the wifi, we asked Xoxo TWICE for confirmation that there won't be a speed reduction or Fair Usage Policy of some sort, regardless of data usage. They happily confirmed that there were absolutely no data limits.
We received the wifi modem 3 days earlier than planned (Devices rented out are Glocalme (model U2) and started using it immediately. The first 3GB was very fast (around 8-10 mbps download), but as soon as 3GB was reached, speed went down to less than 100 kbps.
We contacted Xoxo support to communicate the issue. They first claimed "too many devices connected", than "rental period not started yet", both of which were obviously irrelevant excuses.
Then, they sent an email saying they reconfigured the system, nothing has changed. They sent another email saying they changed the operator, again nothing has changed. Connection was extremely sluggish, we were unable to open any web pages or even retrieve our emails. After midnight, when the counter reset itself, speed increased for another 3GB, then same story again.
We had another friend on our travel party who had rented the same device from a French wifi rental company. Thanks to that, we were able to compare apples with apples. When we connected to his wifi, everything seemed to be very fast and smooth. No interruptions or speed reduction. He had booked a limited package (5GB/Day) for 7.9 EUR/day and was very happy with it. On the other hand, we had to pay almost double that amount and had half data available!
Xoxo was unable to fix the issue despite countless email exchanges and offered to replace the so-called "unlimited" package with 5GB/Day data package for 10.95€/day. Due to our negative overall experience, we respectfully declined their offer, returned their wifi for full refund, and rented a wifi from the French operator.
If you make a quick research on the internet, you'll quickly find out that there is no such thing as unlimited roaming! Very few countries in the EU offer local unlimited data packages with a long term contract, but none of them offer unlimited roaming as of today.
Just google "Roaming: Using a mobile phone in the EU" and check the European Union official website explaining the matter. Below is an excerpt:
---
If you have amobile phone contract where you pay a fixed monthly fee and it includes bundled services with unlimited data, your mobile operator must give you with a large volume of roaming data. The exact amount will depend on how much you pay for your mobile contract. However, the volume of data must be at least twice the amount obtained by dividing the price of your mobile contract (excluding VAT) by the wholesale data roaming cap (€4.50 in 2019).
Your operator must tell you how much data is in your roaming allowance. If you go over your allowance while roaming, you will be charged extra. However, this surcharge will be limited to the wholesale data cap (€4.50 / GB + VAT in 2019).
---
Unfortunately, the refunding process was not smooth either. We had to send them a few chasers and despite the fact that they promised us to issue a full refund due to our problems, they did not stick to their promise and returned part of our payment. They apparently calculated the days for which the wifi has not been in their possession, either in transit or with us, regardless of whether it has been turned on/used or not.
This brings us to a conclusion that, XOXO seems to count on most users not spending more than certain GB / day while at the same charging 4 EUR extra per day for a seemingly non existent "unlimited" internet package.
I would definitely AVOID this company as according to our experience, they acted dodgy and were not honest with us.
