"Bitfield Consulting was absolutely…"
Bitfield Consulting was absolutely great to work with. John is a knowledgeable and patient programmer, often asking incisive questions to help you think through the issue at hand. I enjoyed his methodical and opinionated approach to programming in Go, and I will definitely continue to work with him in the future. Whether you're simply looking to brush up on your Golang, or you're looking for him to weigh in on a more complex aspect of your application, you won't go wrong.

"Knowledgeable & seasoned"
I liked the way he explains the concepts in a simplified and logical manner. John has provided constructive feedback which has helped me a lot in improving myself.
He is very supportive, clears even the most basic doubts and makes everyone feel comfortable in asking their doubts.

"Amazing and thoughtful teacher"
John is an amazing and thoughtful teacher, mentor and coach. He's great at helping you develop a mindset of looking at a complex problem in the simplest way; like the MVP of an MVP approach to problem-solving. Whilst a gentle teacher, he is very firm on making sure you write Go the way it is meant to be written and helps you appreciate and embrace the simplicity that is the core tenet of Go. Simple is hard to achieve but John makes it easy.

"An amazing resource!"
The help and support I have gotten has been fantastic! As a complete newbie I was a little nervous about engaging with others. But John made sure I felt totally comfortable asking questions and interacting. It's probably the most beneficial resource I've found so far!

John has a great style of teaching that mixes curiosity with sound reasoning and solid first principles. I've gotten better at designing and testing golang code and better at coding period since we've started working together. I definitely recommend him to others!

"Great way to learn and get better at Go"
Summary: Great way to learn Go if you have little to no development experience. Well worth the investment if you want to start writing non-trivial code.
For the Love of Go Books and Video:
I purchased the For The Love of Go books and companion video as an introduction to development with Go. Both the books and video hit that sweet spot of introducing the Go language while building real world code. Pacing is great and I didn't feel like the material was over my head. Writing code along with the video, in particular, works well for me. Watching an expert write and narrate both working and non-working code is great to see and hear -- especially non working because you get to watch them recover from the error.
Go Mentoring:
The Go Mentoring program has been great in building up my non-trivial project experience with the Go language. I'm given a project and live Go instruction via video conference. Outside of the live session, I work on building out the project and can ask questions if I run into into issues or need input on where to go. Overall, a great way to learn and build out my experience.
