"OSC was one of the best experiences...."

OSC was one of the best experiences in my like and I have learnt so much from it. It was one of the most entertaining and educative summer schools that I have taken part in. I have made so many friends and made unforgettable memories that will stay with me indefinitely.

Thanks for the response to my review but I do think it's missing several important points.

1. You now say the course was undersubscribed hence the change, this is a revelation as we were told quite clearly this was due to a computer error and when I suggested it was undersubscribed was told not and you tried to bump us to an Oxford based course. I always suspected this was the case and you now confirm it but why could you not have been honest from day one after taking our deposit? I also have issue with the fact that you cannot run a course for one student, we were told quite clearly that some are 1 to 1 so my understanding must be wrong here somewhere along the way.

2. The room situation you have failed to address, this was blatantly an effort to downgrade our booking and had my wife and I not dropped her off I feel sure would not have been resolved. The room she ended up with was originally allocated to another student who we since found out was switched so someone had not checked from your admin side.

3. I don't disagree that she had a good time but that's our daughter, she will make the most of what she has and on the social side did have fun. However if we had taken her sailing in Greece she would also have had fun and this was supposed to be an academic fortnight, the whole purpose was to learn and the Computer Science course did not work. The tutor only made contact on the Friday afternoon before she arrived on Sunday, there was no pre-course work as other students had, no structure to the course with regards to what was asked for and the course did not mirror the advertised content. I accept after the switch to Physics this was totally different but we view this as a wasted opportunity. I accept all tutors work differently but with this one there was nothing, no precontract or advice on work or pre-course study and he struck us as being a man shipped in at the 11th hour to run a course that only two students wanted.

I am sorry to labour the points here but we feel very strongly that what we got was not what we were told it would be. Summer Camps form an important part of a students learning and this one failed to meet the required needs. To say you take on board our comments and to learn from them is good but from someone who just paid good money for a course that did not live up to expectations is not what we want to hear and using your customers as a learning curve for your team sadly reminds me of the way TVR used to develop its cars based on customer complaints in the 70/80's; I felt that sort of policy had been left behind years ago...…..well maybe at my age I can still learn!

Signing up for OSC 2018 was one of the best decisions of my life. I’ve met so many incredible people, including friends, staff members, and tutors. Everything at OSC is exceptional: the excursions, the daily activities, the teaching style, the accommodation... the list goes on. I have come back home with so many new ideas and thoughts regarding the subject I love, and I couldn’t be more thankful.

It’s one of the best experiences of my life and definitely worth the money - tutors, group leaders, and student helper are all really helpful with any questions asked and supported me all the way.

It has been pretty good. I think I've learned a lot from my psychology course and I made new friends. Communication from the student helpers to the students could use some work, however, since there were some confusion and last minute information.

One of the best summer camps I've been on, everyone was so friendly and enthusiastic. The activities were also quite wide spread, allowing us to do the things we liked.
Say trips were fun as the allowed us to go on tours then our own free time. I loved how we got to go to a different restruant each night to experience Oxford better

The amount of time dedicated to the actual course was in total 14 Hours + Time spent doing homework, 12 in Lectures and 2 in Seminars, if that were to be fixed by completely excluding one of the days spent on the Day Trip, then the quality of the course would increase.

Other than what is mentioned above the quality of the teaching was really good as you can experience first hand the teaching of passionate postgraduates in their respective courses, which limits the variety of topics in the course, nonetheless the material covered is pretty useful as it ranges from an introduction in IGCSE topics and it ladders up to undergraduate material.

The Food served in breakfast was pretty good, and the restaurants we were invited to served good food. Overall the course was great all thanks to the supervisors who tried to make the activities enjoyable.

My time in Oxford on the English Language course was spent learning from quality tutors, meeting new friends from all around the world, and experiencing the best of English culture! And the weather was great too!
