Ashford Central Heating was called out to one of our rental properties to repair a gas central heating boiler that had stopped. After several hours stripping the boiler changing 6 different parts irritating the tenant who was without heating or hot water for days and myself being given an initial invoice for £858, the boiler worked only for 4 hours and stopped.
The plumber who completely misdiagnosed the fault was contacted again who stated he would want the invoice paying in full before re-attending or contact Potterton Direct (the boiler manufacturer) as he could not fix it, and now suggested a new boiler.
As an honorable landlord I wished to ensure the tenant had heating and hot water and reluctantly paid the bill after expressing my dismay, He then reduced the bill by £100.said he would call in again after the weekend! after paying the invoice he then supplied me with the manufactures service telephone number to call out and repair!
Both myself and the tenant had lost complete confidence in Ashford Central Heating and another plumber was subsequently instructed to attend.
I elected to fit a new boiler, the new plumber locating the initial fault to a partially broken mains supply wire interrupting the correct delivery of current to the boiler and stated this was probably the fault with the original boiler.
The new boiler is fitted together with a new supply wire and is working perfectly.
To conclude I would not recommend to other landlords or individuals to trust Ashford Central Heating with any central heating or plumbing and Gas Test work to be carried out.
£758.00 for unnecessary incompetent work.
* An expensive exercise beware!
