"Replace skylight window"

I contacted James to replace a leaking skylight window. He noticed that my year old roof was unsafe and I contacted the original company to repair it.
James turned up on the day and replaced the window in a few hours, made the inside good and cleared up all mess and took away rubbish.
Its not rained yet but I'm hopeful it will be leakfree!

"Not reliable in the slightest."

We had to constantly text and call to find out when, or even IF, he'd be around to do any work.

We agreed a price for the work and he said NOTHING was due to be paid until ALL the work was completed.

It took around four months for him to finally complete the roofline part of the job, during which time he'd been given an advance on the final bill against his promise when he tendered for the work.

He then asked for the majority of the bill before the flat roof had even been started. I said to my wife at the time that if we were to give him the money we wouldn't be getting the flat roof done.

She's a bit more trusting than me and gave him the money he begged for.

That was about FIVE weeks ago and surprise surprise, we've heard NOTHING since then.

I couldn't recommend this company to anyone. I've never been kept less informed by a company in my life. We'll hopefully get someone reliable to finish the job he skipped out on.

They were quoted for at the same time in the same text (which I still have) and you didn't at any point say they were to be paid for separately.

The text timeline also shows you took days to reply to my requests for updates on when you'd be doing the work.

With regard the flat roof, you assured me it would still be done AFTER we paid you the money for the roofline.

Had you said you WOULDN'T be able to complete the flat roof due to ill health then that would've been a different matter. I wouldn't have had a problem with that and I would've looked for someone else straight away.
