Intercounty Estate and Letting Agent

"It’s a trap"
Intercounty has been acting as a property agent and management company for the property I am renting in Hertfordshire . I would like to urge any potential tenant about the quality of property management services they provide . For almost one month and a half they cannot manage our shower to be fixed . Then house has got numerous issues including rats that have damaged our belongings as well as black mould on the windows . The company does not take any of those issues seriously and put tenants into unbearable living conditions failing to manage their contractors who are not qualified , rude and go into your house whenever they want without taking their shoes off . When you sign a rental agreement through Intercounty you are trapped - they will not help you do not take any responsibility , blame all on you and threaten you with breach of contract if you do not pay the rent even though they rent the house in i habitual dangerous condition (black mould and rats ) Stay away and refuse to sign if Intercounty is managing the property if you do not want to live with rats mould and a Broken shower for almost two months .

"Wonderful wonderful Intercounty …"
I’ve been using Intercounty @ saffron Walden for many years. Once again they have excelled themselves, especially Blake who has gone above & beyond. My property has been let out so quickly I’m still catching my breath. I cannot recommend him enough, he’s absolutely amazing.

"Avoid this company"
Well, a star is too much for Intercounty. We rent the previous house with them on Terlings Park and we received the house in very bad condition from painting, cleaning and patio. We made a complaint to their head office in Bishop Stortford and been able to recover £150 for the cleaning as the condition was very bad but we still lost more than £380 as oven and carpet need to be done. They marked in inventory that carpet will be cleaned but they never come and never refund the money we paid for carpet cleaning. The first day we move there we found the radiator in kitchen just stay in one screw and one corner on the floor. A person called Ricci told us someone will come to fix the radiator and patio. They came to fix the radiator after 2 weeks and next day we found the radiator on the floor. Imagine if one of our kids was next to this. We stayed two weeks with the radiator on the floor again in the kitchen. So, in total after one month the radiator was fixed. We asked about patio repair and we receive an answer in writing that landlord don’t have anymore ,, thoughts’’ to fix this. When they come on the first inspection their staff seen a piece from the roof that was very dangerous and anytime can injury someone as was on top the kitchen door. After their report nobody came 9 months to remove this.
When we moved, they said the landlord is looking to hold some money from deposit because we forgot 2 or 3 adhesive hooks in the bathroom. Same landlord that don’t have any ,,thoughts’’ to fix anything. After one month we moved they didn’t provide an answer how much they look to keep for this and all our deposit is on hold which we understand that to remove the adhesive hooks it cost all our deposit £2538. We will start the ADR Services on My Deposit to recover our deposit and a claim against Intercounty. Also, we will report the Intercounty to any Trading Association they are making part for unfair practice. All tenants and landlords be aware that any contractor they send they need to ad 10% plus Vat which is Intercounty commission. I have an approved contractor form in front of me and this is a contract between Intercounty and contractor.
Maybe after my review someone in their head office can see that to remove few adhesive hooks don’t cost £2538 which is our deposit that is not received after one month, we vacated the house. Another three tenants they will share this week same experience with Intercounty.

"Disappointing"
Disappointing, dismissive and useless. To beging with, the selling team were nice enough and very communicative. Even if there were mistakes along the way they always seemed to find means to fix it, at least until the deposit was paid. But once the money were sent, and you signed the last document for the property; if you have any issues whatsoever with the it they will not interfere. YOU have to deal with everything, there were health and safety issues with our rental and the landlord agreed to end the tenancy early because they sent someone to evaluate the flat and there were serious issues; "the property manager" said this is not up to her and she can't help with any of the issues and to contact the landlord as he is the one who manages the property...shocking!!!! What is the purpose of Intercounty then? You can go and rent directly from the landlord in this case. Also Extremely rude and absolutely USELESS ... Unprofessional! This whole time looked only at ways to not take full accountability, and again "the property manager" tried to play the fools card stating that she wasn't aware of the situation, and when it was brought to her attention that emails have been sent in every detail, once she did see that everything was documented she then ignored us and did not answer the phone or her emails, only showing that she has no idea how to handle a situation. So I don't understand how can you be a property manager when you are solely relying on the landlord to deal with this, the tenant is left to whom?the tenant is left completely unprotected. What property are you managing? Or am I to understand that your job description is only to send a checklist and that is it? Tracey Coulthard was an absolute tool or at least behaving like one in this case and completely left me appalled of her lack of interest and unprofessionalism in finding a resolution; her main concern being to find ways to dismiss us, instead of helping closing this situation. Really goes to show what good people (or the lack of them) goes to ruin one's reputation.

"Great service"
We have just sold our flat through Intercounty (Saffron Walden) and would happily recommend their service. Katie B kept us updated throughout the whole process and communication was excellent. We have used Intercounty before for buying, selling and renting and have always been happy with their service.

"Time to move on...."
There were many positive things that could be said about Intercounty previously but over the course of the last 12/18 months the service provided to landlords has fallen off a cliff. Multiple call and emails needed to actually get anything done, errors in payments and, oh when they decided to close an office and sell the rental book to another firm, informed me at 8.55am on the day the transfer took place.
Very very poor considering the fees they levy and the image to portray.

"SO HELPFUL"
Huge thank you to the letting team at the intercounty branch in Saffron Walden. After numerous phone calls and let downs, Jade put in a lot of work to help us find the perfect place by keeping us up to date with new properties which were more suited to us. We couldn't have done it without her and appreciate the time she invested to help us out, including all the phone calls.
Thank you so much again!
