"Main floor renovation"

M&D Builders did a very good job in renovating the whole main floor for our two-story house in Oakville. We relocated the kitchen and made it bigger; renovated the powder & laundry room; re-purposed the old dining room as a new office/bedroom. We worked with a kitchen company for the cabinets and countertops. M&D did everything else. The quality of their work is high standard, and their crew are professional and respectful. We're very satisfied with the end results, including the structural changes (i.e., a new steel beam added and a new wall for the open concept kitchen), the hardwood & tile flooring, the electrical work, plumbing, painting, new doors, crown moulding, etc. We would highly recommend them to friends and anyone who's looking for a reliable and reasonable general contractor.

A few things:
1) At our first meeting with Mike, he pointed out our plan would need structural changes, the drawing and city permit. Right away, we consulted a structural engineer and confirmed what Mike said was true. So, we knew he was honest and know his stuff. Other small companies who came before him didn't know about the structural change. A couple of big builder companies didn't bother to give us much details, they offered a packaged deal - pay first, details later. After some discussions on the details with Mike, we signed the contact with M&D. Our project started after March break, now is nearing the end, so glad we chose M&D.

2) Mike and his team are flexible to accommodate our needs. For example, we moved out at the beginning and then had to move back sooner due to unexpected situation. Mike and his team managed to coordinate and work with three of us living and working on the 2nd floor and completed the work. At the end of each workday, they always cleaned up the garbage and tidied up the site.

3) Mike and his team are honest and upfront for unexpected costs. They provide us options and professional advice based on years of experience but listen and respect our decisions as the homeowner.

"I trusted the reviews and I am glad I did!"

After hearing multiple horror stories and never having any renovations done, I was hesitant initially, but my washroom was in dire need of fixing and had to take action. After getting several no-shows, slow responses and very high estimations, I, fortunately, came across M & D Builders who not only thoroughly reviewed the washroom but gave an honest assessment of what to expect along with a very reasonable price. Mike was open to listening to what we had in mind and helped us give insights and ideas of achieving the looks best. The process from the initial contact to the finished product was well organized and transparent. Mike had briefed us correctly on what we needed to do and what he could do and was even kind enough to accommodate us when we couldn't fulfill our requirements. Communication throughout the time frame was excellent. Now the washroom is complete, Mikes's communication has been fantastic, and he was open to listening to our concerns and resolving those issues as soon as possible. M & D Builder's work was sincere, and they made sure there were no issues behind the walls or within pipes, and immediately contacted us and asked for our suggestions when they saw something that may potentially cause harm in the future. They even took the initiative of going above and beyond our agreement to ensure that we got our dream washroom, for which we are very appreciative. Mike made the whole experience very knowledgeable for me as I kept in the loop of the entire process, and hence this is why I would contact M & D Builders again for all future home renovation projects.

"I am very pleased by the renovations…"

I am very pleased by the renovations that were done in my condo. Mike Messiha (M&D Builders) as well as their staff provided an exceptional experience from design to completion of work. Mike responded almost instantly to my messages. He is always professional, courteous, and pay particular attention to detail. The quality of work was excellent. Any problems or concerns were addressed in a timely manner and were followed through until resolved. Overall, an excellent experience, I will definitely contact him for my next projects.

"Basement reno with bathroom"

We hired M&D Buildings to renovate our basement bathroom and erect walls, install flooring, etc. in an unfinished area. So glad we chose them. The end result far surpasses our expectations! Mike, Les and the team were exceptional. Mike & Les checked in on progress regularly & were always available for any questions/concerns. The team were punctual, hard working, very respectful & friendly professionals. They kept any disruption to a minimum and left everything in an orderly fashion at the end of the day. As icing on the cake, the project came in on budget and was completed ahead of schedule. Thanks to all of you for a fantastic job. "M&D Builders - Customer Satisfaction Matters !"

We contracted Mike M. and his team at M&D Builders (M&D) to renovate a new home that was purchased in the height of the COVID pandemic (May 2021). I found M&D online and was drawn to the company as a result of the various awards and high volume of 5-star reviews. When I called M&D, Mike was so responsive; he booked an appointment to bring in his team to scope the project, and he provided estimates within a few days. The new home was 60+ yrs. old and required that the electrical panel be replaced, walls come down, floors be replaced, bathrooms be renovated … it was not an easy request and I needed it all completed in 1.5 months. I received estimates from other contractors who came in for less (and made things sound too easy), however based on my interactions with Mike; his transparency in terms of information, detailed estimates, responsiveness to my texts, emails and calls, overall professionalism– my instincts told me he was the right choice.
I am happy to say the job is complete, I’m 110% confident that I made the absolute right choice. Throughout the entire process Mike guided me and made sure that I was aware of all stages of the process and the decisions made/that needed to be made with respect to the renovations. Absolutely nothing was easy in a COVID environment where we were under lockdown (try selecting fixtures/hardware etc. online because stores are curbside only!) – from permits to safety, these were certainly the most difficult conditions to do a renovation. If there was a problem, Mike consulted with me and provided creative, cost-effective solutions that were inline with my objectives. There were certainly surprises/issues along the way, but Mike managed all the tough conversations with trades/schedules and materials and everything. Quality and customer satisfaction is highly important to Mike; I know this because there were several times when Mike circled back to me to confirm that I was happy and satisfied with the end work. He demonstrated several times that my satisfaction is what’s most important – this is a rare quality today in the home improvement industry.
I am just so happy that I chose his company and chose him – he saved me time and money by virtue of his extensive expertise about construction, his strong ability to manage the project and of course his incredible network. I greatly benefited from his contractor discount in terms of materials such as flooring, paint, vanity etc. – he passed to me all the great discounts he has as a contractor. My kitchen & island are stunning, I love my bathroom vanity/tiles and hardwood floors – these are all suppliers where Mike referred me. Mike is highly efficient and effective at what he does. I could literally go on and on about my experience – it was just so positive. I have heard some awful stories from friends about their renovation experience and I am grateful that my experience was the polar opposite. I trusted my gut, did my research, and picked the absolute right company.. My family is thrilled with the end result and I fully plan to contract Mike and M&D in the future for our basement renovation/home extension. Thank you so much Mike !

"Home Renovation"

Mike and his team with M&D Builders have been nothing short of amazing. Highly communicative from pre-contracting, through to job start and completion, Mike kept me up to date throughout. All work was clearly explained and all costs were transparent, clear and reasonable. Work was done on time and on budget while maintaining an impeccable attention to detail- no corners cut here! Our renovation turned out even better than I had ever imagined! Fantastic job done, and we couldn’t be happier!

"BEST Contractor!"

This was our second renovation with M & D Builders. This is the ONLY contractor we will work with! The entire team did a beautiful job, and brought our dream bathrooms to life. Two bathrooms (master and guest) were completely renovated, along with the removal of a closet at the top of the stairs, new flooring, and a new closet was built in one of our bedrooms. Work began and once again the excellent craftsmanship was evident from day one. We highly recommend this company to anyone who has a home project to be done. We were, once again, impressed with the workmanship and speed which the work progressed. Thank You M & D Builders for another exceptional project, for keeping within our budget, and especially for going above and beyond to exceed our expectations. "Bathroom renovations and stair remodel"

We hired Mike from M & D Buildings once again after our kitchen renovation a few years ago. We were familiar with the quality of work Mike and his crew provided and were very satisfied once again. Mike and Les worked closely together to provide us with renovations that we are extremely happy with. We had 2 bathrooms completely renovated. We also had the stairs completely redone and some painting done. Any crew who came in were very good at their job and they always left the house tidy. Mike always did an excellent job at communicating with us and then communicating our plans with Les' crew. If there were any issues that arose during the renovation, a solution was proposed right away, resulting in no delays. Mike was easily reached anytime we needed him and he always got back to us right away. He also dropped in occasionally to see how the renovation was progressing. Not only are we very pleased with the workmanship, but we appreciate that they made sure the renovation was done as quickly as possible-getting it finished in a shorter time than was originally planned. Overall, we would definitely recommend M & D Buildings for anyone looking to do a home renovation.

"Turning Dem into Bedroom"

Mike and his team are excellent professionals who walk the talk and deliver high quality work, as promised! I contacted Mike to build a wall in my condo so I could sell with an extra room. I couldn't have been more pleased with the final results! The wall addition was seamless due to the high quality its construction. Both Mike and the contractor that built the wall were very patient with me and answered all my questions. The contractor was very considerate of my home and make sure to protect the furniture and appliances in his work area. He worked very quickly and efficiently! I was also very impressed that Mike took the time check-in with me each day, letting me know what was done on the day and what to expect next. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend Mike and his team for any home renovations!

I had the good fortune of meeting Mike from M&D Buildings on a previous engineering project and his expertise was appreciated on a recent project that involved installing a Laminate Veneer Lumber (LVL) support beam.
