"My computer got hit with a Trojan"

My computer got hit with a Trojan. I called MicroSoft and they said Vonetel would fix it. The cost for their service was $199.00. After I spoke with Vonetel they started the work but then they started saying I would need to buy a protection plan from them. We finally settled on about $1,000 for two years of service.
They did get rid of the Trojan and installed an annoying "Ad Blocker." Was I ripped off?
