"Be advised it's not a smooth or respected process"

I recently returned from a 3 week commercial visit to China. This time the carnet was not accepted at the Airport in Beijing with issues at arrival requiring registering with a Chinese customs service and at my attempt to exit. It took several hours to resolve upon my exit if it wasn't for the United Airlines Representative pleading my case with Chinese customs there would have been massive problems with duties charged and with an incomplete Carnet that would have cost more in carnet fines. while the problem may have been with Chinese customs, clearly the Carnet process is not universally accepted. The nice person at Boomerang just blew the issue off, I understand it wasn't her problem.
