"One of a kind. The bad one"

In the realm of microbrand watches, this is by far the lowest you can get.

I was the biggest fan of the newly emerging microbrand, that had the potential to rule the market.
Fresh designs, active community, quick repsonses, all the right boxes ticked to make for a superb watch company.

Then the reality kicked in.

Massive kickstarter campaign with over half a million Eur built on lies, false promises and deceit, built on the false promise of top grade ETA movement, that was silently switched to "top grade regulated" (which does not mean anything), and finally replaced with lowest grade Sellita. Hundreds of watches sent with misaligned hands (how does one not notice misaligned hands when "regulating the movement to top grade"?!), faulty movements, and so many other issues due to the absulute lack of QC.

MV were promising the churned backers even a lower price, than the best option available on kickstarter - which is a big bad NONO, and when they were caught, they claimed they are sorry and promised a stretch goal bonus to everyone as a token of good intentions, which they, surprisingly, didn't bother to deliver.

MV company even lowered to belittling of the surprised backers, who pledged in for a Top grade eta movement watch, and were told they will get the lowest grade available Sellita, claiming that kickstarter does not let them refund the pledges, deleting anyone who dared to ask about these issues in the MV club, and lying about the issues with misaligned hands, claiming they can be microadjusted and a instructional video will be released shortly. It did not to this day, mainly because that's just another PR bullcrap used to divert the attention.

Prior "swiss made movement upgrades" were such a great hit, that they even made it onto Federico Talks Watches youtube channel - watch out for the "Swiss Made Watch Movements Made In China ??? - RANT" episode at 4:00, again, not in the best light though..

Personal experience with the QC and warranty repair was just disastrous - bought the Redentore limited edition watch, which arrived with misaligned hands (MV signature refinement I suppose), that took several months of chasing, just for it to return "repaired" but with a scratched dial. The quality of MV watchmakers is simply unrivalled.
After SIX MONTHS of emailing back and forth, while being repeatedly lied about my consumer rights, after a claim filled with the european consumer protection agency, I finally received my refund, just in time to meet with the refund from the GMT campaign, which I managed to push through my bank.

Yes, their designs are nice, but they are nothing but liars and crooks.

There are many other microbrands you can support, that are happy to do more, than just take your money.

Fantastic design, well built, and user friendly features like the sapphire crystal/quick release bracelet make this an exceptional versatile piece.

"Lies lies lies"

You should be aware that the over enthusiast Philippe Gaudreault is a dealer of Meccaniche Veneziane watches.

The fact that he feels the urge to post such a review with the hope to gain some sales is tale telling enough of the brand's usual misconduct.

His page is ebay.ca / usr / phil-merch where he wrote : Authorized Dealer for Meccaniche Veneziane :D Feel free to let me know if you have eyes on a specific model that s not currently in stock, i will gladly order it for you !

And comparing the MV285 movement to some Omega manufacture movement or the quality of the strap to Rolex is soooo ridiculous and show the will of that man to lure people in buying those crappy watches...

"Best watch ever !"

Just received my Nereide 4.0 on jubilee few days ago and wow am i stoked ! This is by far one of the best overall watch i’ve ever owned. Everything in this watch is flawless, the design, the quality of the case, the finishes, super well done domed sapphire cristal with nicely applied A/R, even the movement is running + 1, which is better than my planet ocean !! The jubilee is awsome and fits as well as a rolex, even though they arn’t any micro adjust. I am blown away by the presence of this watch and by all The little details. The bezel action is fantastic and everything aligns to perfection, the lume is also fantastic, overall a really well made watch, With outstanding eye appeal. Also i have to give a big thank you to alberto, who answered all my questions, he was a real gentleman and im looking foward to buying again !! A+ brand

"Horrible Experience!"

I backed the Nereide GMT on Kickstarter (KS) and, of all the campaigns I've backed over the years, it was easily and by far the worst buying experience (KS or otherwise). It's not because of delays or minor changes because that's expected with KS. It was the worst experience because there were significant changes without communication, false advertising regarding product quality, and ignoring backers after the campaign ended (when they had our money). And the experience was worsened by Meccaniche Veneziane totally avoiding customer inquiries about project status and not announcing any changes until they were ready to deliver something many months later. (They waited to communicate at the last minute because they didn't want to deal with the backlash.) In the end, I received a watch that looks fairly nice but it's definitely not the watch I bought. If the resulting specs were known at the beginning of the campaign, I would have never backed that project; I believe it was a cash grab. They also didn't deliver everything they said they would and refused to give refunds. I believe the Nereide GMT funds were used as capital for the Nereide 4.0 which is why they refused to give refunds (which are perfectly acceptable through KS, yet they claimed it wasn't possible -- totally untrue). They moved on to the Nereide 4.0 without finishing the GMT and we were short-changed. In summary, they have very nice designs but the fun ends there; they have very poor project execution, horrible customer service, and a total lack of business integrity. I have many more examples supporting this review, but I'm trying to keep this review as brief as possible while getting the point across. Buyer beware!

"This brand is run by crooks"

This brand is run by crooks. Just check the comments of their last KS campaign (kickstarter.com / projects / 975712226 / nereide-gmt-dive-watch-with-eta-2893-2-swiss-movem). Let's just say that the Top grade ETA 2893-2 was replaced by a Sellita with no notice to the backers, and that the watches delivered were very poorly build ( misaligned hands motly...).
Needless to say that the after sale services were less than adequate. Evrything is on that KS page.
So, if you yearn for an overpriced crappy watch sold by absolute crooks, Mecchaniche Veneziane is precisly the brand you should consider seriously.
Oh, and yes, the bezel inserts of the Nereide are glued. Another detail the hid to sell overpriced insert.

"Never in my life I would ever but again from MV"

Never in my life I would ever do business with this company again. It all started with their KS campaign for the Nereide GMT. The specs of the watch were changed from top grade to "top grade regulation" to finally a standard sellita movement. During all this they refused to answer any emails. I had purchased through the website and used PayPal. After the problems started I requested my money be reimbursed on the fact thst they changed the original specs and were considerably late. Morelli brothers offered me a watch with a ETA movement (just for me), I refused based on the fact thst I no longer believed their word. Requested my money back and they refused. Put in a claim through PayPal, and within 4 hrs they shipped the watch (before shipping to ks backers) which I refused upon arrival, they also changed their PayPal details from Meccaniche Veneziane to "badaboom shop". After 2 months and a lot of unnecessary, PayPal finally ruled in my favor.
