"Better for idea generation than for a polished product."

Before I signed up to DesignCrowd, I already knew that there would be a lot of low-grade entries. I was very worried that I would put up quite a large amount of prize money, only to receive a pretty low grade of submissions.

So, simply put, this is what actually happened:
I submitted a very specific brief, asking for a specific number of animals and gave enough detail to at least expect reasonable entries. Of the 150 designs, most were duplicates, so this immediately became about 50 designs. Of the remaining 50, 30 were from people who clearly didn't bother to read the brief and were just re-purposing old designs that didn't win previous competitions.

So now we were down to 20 designs. 15 of these designs were not of a reasonable quality. And that leaves just 5!

Luckily, the remaining 5 designs were all on the right track, and with some targeted feedback, their 5 design entries evolved to better fit the brief. What I really got out of this process was a series of ideas that I hadn't thought of, as opposed to a series of decent quality designs.

Ultimately, I'm fairly happy with my logo, but next time I would just ask one designer to do the work, and skip all of the rubbish. Luckily, I can also do that on DesignCrowd.

DesignCrowd far exceeded our expectations both with the response from graphic designers for our logo (we had 335 responses for our $300 "prize") and for the quality and creativity of some of the submissions. In addition, the site was so easy and flawless to use. We started out not committing the funds and quickly changed that after a day or two when it was obvious we were going to have only one problem - narrowing it down to the final design!

We greatly enjoyed our experience with DesignCrowd. From the very start we were treated with a great deal of respect and kindness even though we requested them to all but start completely over at one point. Each designer that submitted a design showed great creativity and professionalism. Once we chose a design, the one presented by Corebros Studios, although we requested them to refine the design MANY times, they did so professionally and graciously. We love our final logo design and most certainly use DesignCrowd again and highly recommend others to use this company as well.

Great! I got just what I wanted. I was able to see dozens of designs and choose what I liked and then work on refining it until I was happy. I would use Design Crowd again for creating a logo or other graphic design.

The communication is great, but I wish that the process for having things like rack cards printed were more streamlined. Printing rack cards is not part of what they normally do and when I tried to pay for my cards, but got an error message.
