"Good stay in Worcester"

I booked directly via the website for a 10-day stay in Worcester. The booking/verification/security deposit process is rather onerous. After paying online, there is an identity check and payment of a damage deposit (need a mobile phone to provide a photo of my passport and a selfie). I had to choose between a non-refundable damage-deposit waiver for £25, covering up to £430, and a hold/deposit of £430 on my credit card, for a non-refundable £8 fee. If more than £430 damage is done in either case, the guest will be billed accordingly.
An email containing your accommodation’s full address and arrival instructions is sent one day prior. You can request early check-in or late checkout for an additional charge.
Specific to Flat 1 at 1-3 Friar Street, Worcester: Easy arrival (key in safe-box). Disappointed to find no washing machine, when it was listed among the amenities on the website (since removed). There is a drying rack and laundry detergent though. (Self-serve EasySpin launderette is nearby.) I liked the handy countertop right inside the entrance, and the shelf & mirror in the bedroom. Looks like new carpeting and renovations. Well-equipped kitchen. Shower stall and micro-mini sink in bathroom. Eco-friendly toilet paper. Good WiFi. Streaming apps installed on the TV (use your own account). Location is central, opposite the beautiful The Eagle Vaults bar with its outdoor seating. Street and construction sounds can be closed off by the double-glazed windows. You may want to bring earplugs, eye mask and bodywash or bath soap.

"Guest Homes don’t care for surrounding areas"

I was asked to take down my 1 star review a couple of months ago but after the continuous issues I have had with a neighbouring Guest Homes property however, after multiple encounters with them, I believe this review is accurate.

This particular property has an inaccessible driveway that requires access via my driveway. Most won’t try and access but some do causing them to park partially on my driveway or block the pavement. Those who choose not to use the driveway often block mine or the neighbours the other side. Everytime this happens I contact Guest Homes who tell them to move. However, this happens weekly, if not more and have been late for work because my car has been blocked in.

The area in which I live is completely inappropriate for a short term let. The street is full of first time buyers and young families, just like myself.

It is my view that Guest Homes do not care for the local areas in which they place their properties and they are happy to take money in whatever way they can without thinking of the people around who have to endure the negative ramifications. Therefore, I believe the 1 star review is accurate.

"Great products and fantastic service"

We saw Guest Home and Garden's products at a garden show at Blenheim Palace last week and really liked their garden furniture. I ordered some on line and Ellie Guest, who dealt with our order, could not have been more helpful. Her communication was brilliant and she is completely reliable. She does exactly what she says she will do; it's so good to deal with a trustworthy person.

The furniture arrived this morning and is now out down by our pond. It looks great. I'd recommend this company without reservation based upon my experience. Thank you Ellie, you deserve to be very successful.

"One day to visit and discovered property not available"

One day before I was due to visit, I found out that the property (booked through Holiday Lettings) was not available as Guest Homes had a long term rental. I had booked and paid in full 3 months earlier and received confirmation of the booking. Very difficult to communicate with Guest Homes. I had called 5 days before to ask about access so they had opportunity to check the booking then but clearly did not do so. Luckily I was able to find another property through a different provider.

"Mouldy bedding, dirty crockery and no response from Guest Homes"

Rang to make sure all beds would be set up. Had to ring 3 times to get confirmation/entry code. Got there - mouldy bedding (duvet, sheets, pillows, the lot). After an hour of calls/emails back and forth they said they'd get it fixed the next morning, didn't have any suggestions about where we'd sleep that night. We ended up going out and buying the replacement bedding and expensing it.
Went to use the kitchen that evening and all the glassware and crockery was visibly dirty so we had to wash everything we used. There was old food in the cupboards, bins piled up outside the back door and dog poo bags hung on the wall.
Emailed photos of all of this, got ignored multiple times. Rang to follow up, said they'd get back to me and didn't. Offered me £30 refund.
Honestly a joke from start to finish, ruined one night of a two night holiday and now they're ignoring the emails and being deliberately unhelpful and avoiding replying. I get things go wrong but they way they've handled it has been horrendous and with all the other options out there, I'd recommend you pay a bit more and go somewhere with some semblance of customer service.

Brilliant stay with Guest Homes. Everything from start to finish ran smoothly. The property was well-decorated and well-furnished to fit all my needs. I’d definitely stop with them again in the future for a home away from home.
