SkyCaddie

"No Recycling - seriously ?!"
I bought a SG5 many years ago - and just found it at the back of a cupboard. Wanting to do the right thing by the environment I thought I'd return it to Sky Caddie for recycling.
Had an online chat - and was told they won't receive old products for recycling. A bit cheekily I asked if they only recycled new products :) Got the response that they don't recycle anything. Good to know they take their environmental (and legal!) responsibility so seriously :(

"Skycaddie SG2.5"
I have used my Skycaddie SG2.5 for the past 10 years and have found it to be an easy to use, robust, reliable and accurate device. At membership renewal last month I had problems with the sync for the device (a sync of device is necessary to complete renewal process) I contacted Skycaddie who arranged for their UK Customer Support to contact me. They resolved the problem. Delighted with the excellent customer service.

"Absolutely disgraceful"
Absolutely disgraceful - spent nearly £400 and they send the goods out on a 48 hr tracked but not signed for by Royal Mail which has a maximum claim of £50.
I paid £8.90 for a courier service had it confirmed on my order - unbelievable!
The skycaddie was just dropped outside the front door and luckily I phoned my wife to check if it had been delivered - otherwise anyone could have taken it.
The call handler tried to fob me off and say it was up to me to contact Royal Mail.
I want a refund for charging me for the courier and fraudulently then supplying another cheaper service.
Post note
I have since had a phone call from James apologising for this issue and has offered a refund of the next day courier service I paid for. He explained the USA had updated the site but they were having issues with it.
Still no excuse the picking slip in the bix stated clearly next day courier.

"Just like everyone else who has…"
Just like everyone else who has commented below over the past several months, it appears that Sky Caddie/Sky Golf is totally out of control, or circling the drain!! I cannot sync my device without getting hung up on the "Loading Membership Data" appearing. Have tried Chat sessions, but get try later messages. Liked the stats the caddie and system provided, but will not renew. Question to the community - will the caddie still provide GPS if you are not a subscriber?

"What the hell is going on"
What the hell is going on! Can’t log in and no live chat no one answering my call has sky caddie gone bust? The site has been out of action for 4 days now I’ve just paid my years subscription and now I can’t download any new courses. Has anyone else had these issues. Absolutely disgusted if they have.

"Naff Website and Lousy customer service"
Having issues logging in, my husband is having the same issues and it is impossible to get help. Live Chat isnt working and their text support hasn't come back to me yet....thinking about doing a recharge on my credit card for the latest 3 year plan I have signed up to and I will go and buy a garmin

"Absolute waste of money!"
The LX5 is an Absolute waste of money! It worked well for just over a year then completely stopped working. So of course now its "out of warranty". Tech support said I had to re-sync it so I did. Still didn't work. Did this three times and it still stops working after about 3 holes into a round. The last thing I want to be doing during a round of golf is screw around with a piece of junk gadget. Totally frustrating and distracting. I'm so done with this garbage product.

"Lousy customer service"
My subscription plan is due to expire in May of this year. I contacted SkyGolf assuming there would be an extension of my three year plan. Given that we in the UK have been barred from our courses for the best part of a year I, wrongfully, thought this would be the least they could do. How wrong I was!
Having been a loyal customer for ten years, always subscribing to the world wide plan I have ordered a laser measuring device.
An opportunity missed SkyGolf to do the right thing.

"Poor performance; expensive to buy and to run"
After I lost my excellent Garmin hand-held golf satnav, I asked my pro for advice about buying a new one, and he recommended a SkyCaddie. I made the mistake of thinking that an expensive device would be better - well thought out and easy to use - how wrong I was!
I bought an SX400 which has an ideally sized touch screen and it came with a silicone sleeve and bag hook. Set up was OK, but I soon noticed the device comes with extensive bells and whistles such as worldwide golf course plans and game analysis that I'll probably never use, but of course which I've paid for.
There are undoubtedly some very good features of this device such as the quality of mapping, but my top complaint about the device is the archaic software that runs it. Communicating for updating via fast WiFi is frustratingly slow, but my number one gripe is that the satnav takes so long to fire up when you get to the course to play; you have to start 15 mins before the off and go through several menus or it just isn't ready in time.
My second major gripe is finding your way around the menus. When you're used to a smart phone, this device like something from the 1960s or 70s. I don't believe SkyCaddie have properly field-tested their clunky software with actual golfers; I’m in no doubt that the software needs a radical overhaul. Also there is no automatic brightness facility for the screen so in bright sunlight yesterday, it was too dim and had to be manually adjusted. Also, the keyboard is difficult to use for normal-size fingers.
Then I come to the excessive annual fees you have to pay just to keep the device live. The minimum charge is £30 a year but you need to pay more if you want reasonable performance. I've just had a demand to renew my ‘ embership’, despite not being able to use the device for virtually a year - I’m in the process of requesting a free extension from SkyCaddie, which may happen, but this ought to be automatic. I have to say the phone support by SkyCaddie is usually very good, but this doesn’t make up for all the problems I’ve listed.
In summary, if you want a satnav mainly for playing local courses, that is easy to use and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, DON'T buy a SkyCaddie

"I have just been in touch with this…"
I have just been in touch with this company and asked if they could repair my skycaddie sx500 screen. And was told they don't repair it but can trade in. When I asked about they offered me $50 trade in if I bought a brand new unit off them considering I bought mine last year for £300 I Don't see this as good value for money. And the customer care is rubbish not going to use them again
