Gorgia was wonderful and identified that I had high foot arches and could quickly recommend the most appropriate boots. The service was thorough and made me try them on an incline and decline. This is one of my favourite shops in the country. I love the layout, the interesting things to buy and the overwhelming love of the outdoors that permeates the place. It’s beautifully stocked with carefully chosen product lines that you know you can trust. We’ve been coming to Glenridding for years and I save up all my outdoor kit needs to get great products chosen for their tried and tested attributes, always at excellent value (much cheaper and higher quality than the big chains). The service is always second to none - just recently a manufacturing fault with a walking boot meant that Andrew and Georgia upgraded the boots with no quibbles, posted the new pair to us in London with a handwritten lovely note and a complimentary bottle of Nikwax. There is never any pressure to buy and the staff are always happy to give detailed advice on ascending Helvelyn and the neighbouring fells.

I bought a pair of boots in Catstycam Outdoor Shop about 10 years ago and I have had excellent wear out of them. The time had come to replace the boots so I headed off to Catstycam, once again, during my holiday in the Lake District. The staff are welcoming, professional and approachable. Georgia assessed my walking needs and measured my feet. She suggested a pair of boots, which happened to be the same make as my old boots, and they seemed to be a perfect fit. Georgia was helpful, attentative, and informative but there was never a hard sell which can be so off putting. They genuinely want the best for their customers. That’s what brings me back time and again! Whilst we were there my husband wanted to update his walking jacket and found the assistant helpful and knowledgeable. The jacket was just what he wanted!

I am a total novice at walking and only second time to Lake District. I didn’t even own a waterproof coat, so when I went into the shop I didn’t have a clue! The lady there, Georgia and her assistant were really helpful and explained what everything on the label meant and then was very honest about which jacket looked best on me. When I got the jacket home my fella thought I could do with next size up, and Georgia was very kind and helpful in swapping it over.
The shop has a fab range of walking and hiking clothing and accessories, and I will definitely be going back next time I’m there. Lots of discounted top brands too!

Georgia fitted me for a pair of Walking Boots and waterproof Jacket and Trousers just before I did Wainwright‘s Coast to Coast Walk. The Boots were great and I have done many (comfy) miles since. The waterproofs proved essential for a couple of days of the Walk, and did the job excellently.
