My breakdown specialist from the RAC recommended I use NavCar when my car broke down in Feb 2020. As I was in an unfamiliar area and felt intimidated, I accepted this recommendation and my car was taken to NavCar.
The issue was the alternator and a couple of days and £270 later, I was on my way. Throughout the multiple lockdowns, I haven't really driven and to my surprise, I broke down in August 2021. NavCar confirmed the part repaired was out of warranty and this would be at my own expense.
I took my car to my local garage I found since moving and they confirmed the part that was fitted to my car was subpar and not even designed for the vehicle as it was not powerful enough for what my car needed. My repairer gave a much more powerful part and I was only charged £200.
It's confusing how I can be charged almost 1/3 less than NavCar but now have a much more powerful car part?
I made a complaint on the 6th of September to NavCar and have not had a response to date. The RAC also requested that NavCar review my case, which they have refused to do.
I have had my time wasted and had additional out of pocket expenses due to being provided with a poor part and poor service.
Also, for anyone reading this, the RAC have confirmed that NavCar is no longer their approved garage, which shows there must be more customers having the same problems.
