"An extraordinary achievement …"
Wilson and his team achieved in a week what I didn’t think would be possible and to a high standard with the minimum of fuss. Trustworthy and diligent with excellent standards. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. They even impressed our Building Manager, not an easy task!

"Good old Mr. WILSON"
Many of us have stories of cowboy builders. At last we've found Wilson and his wife Sara. The two of them are diligent, conscientious and a pleasure to do business with. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they modernised our kitchen to a spec. we didn't dream was possible.
Thanks so much to them both.

Wilson is wonderful!! He, and his team have completed all of our renovation jobs over the last year and each done to an amazing standard. Wilson is easy to work with, positive, hard working and a great problem solver - there is nothing he can’t do! I wouldn’t use anyone else!

"Some good and some bad"
Wilson renovated 2 bedrooms for me including new lighting / sockets, new subfloor & chevron oak floor, built-in wardrobes, new cast iron radiators & redecorating.
I would say Wilson is a good option if you're a mid-to-low budget renovator, but he's simply out of his depth with higher-end finishes. I found him to be punctual, trustworthy, easy to get on with, but rather disorganised. I've seperated out his strenghts and weaknesses below:
Strengths:
1. Transparent in the way he works
2. Willing to work for cash
3. Takes his time to try to get things right (when he's able)
4. Easy to have around the house
Weaknesses:
1. Cannot organise his time and takes on too much work (he often said he would attend and then updated us the day before moving the goalposts and delaying). If you're a job below £20k or so, and something bigger comes along, expect delays as he load balances.
2. He struggled to know how to handle some of the finishes we purchased (which were in the initial scope). The lines on his engineered oak chevron floor install (an >£150 per m2 product) are not straight, which draws the eye. He was also unable to provide straight edges near to the skirting to avoid the need for a scotia, which was what we had requested. Had he been clear this was not possible, we would have asked him to lift the skirting and then reinstate, which would have cost the same as the scotia we ended up needing to buy.
3. Linked to the above, he damaged or lost quite a few of the products we had purchased. He chucked out 2 radiator bleed valves, he (bizarrely) insisted on keeping our new cast iron radiators in the room while working, which caused them to get scuffed (which was predictable!), he damaged our brand new floor by dragging the wardrobe carcass over it, with a scratch that is so deep the planks now need to be replaced, he cut our original victorian cornice and skirting in the wrong place (to enable wardrobe install), which now means we'll have to find an expensive facsimile. You get the picture -- a lack of attention to detail that has ended up costing us a fair bit unnecessarily.
4. He sometimes (when the project over-runs perhaps) tries to get away with things I know he knows are wrong, like leaving the doorknobs on our new doors turning into, rather than away from, the doorframe.
5. But worst of all, given all the snagging and damage he has done, he is now refusing to come back to finish the job (even though we're flexible around timeframes). I must be clear that we won't necessarily be out of pocket for this as some of the agreed fee is still outstanding, but it has caused a headache nonetheless.
None of his capacity-related limitations are deal breakers, and we would have been minded to use him again if he were simply up-front about the type of work he could confidently deliver. Had he been clear about what he wasn't comfortable with, we simply would have used him alongside more specialist contractors. Unfortunately, he claimed to be able to deliver what we were after, which is disappointing.
Overall, I would only recommend using Wilson for large but simple jobs -- replastering, repainting and decorating, installing cheap simple radiators, installing carpets etc. I would not however use him to achieve a more polished finish as it's a little beyond his skill level.

Edit in response to some of the misinformation shared by Wilson in his response.
A) Scheduling and timing
The main deadline Wilson agreed to when taking on the work was the due date of our second child. The work involved taking all of the bedrooms in our house out of commission save for the master, and we didn't want to have our newborn and our toddler all in one room together disrupting everyone's sleep. He said this would be feasible and understood the stakes, but missed the deadline by a whole month. Suggesting this was a result of us 'delaying progress' is disingenuous. The delays were for 3 reasons: firstly, Wilson wasn't on site as much as he needed to be to hit the deadline, secondly, he didn't complete work in a sensible order (progressing both rooms in tandem when he should have focussed on one), and finally, he was slow to lay the chevron floor (to the extent that it made me wonder if he had ever laid one before).
B) Quality and detailing:
I will let others view the quality of finishes W usually works on. There are pics of past work on FB and his website.
C) Product handling:
Damage I have pics of, and the bleed valves were taped to installation instructions you admitted throwing away prior to install (!)
D) Doorknobs
Others can decide if a doorknob that turns into the latch is 'a matter of taste'. More broadly, W wants everything spelled out, which can be onerous (inc asking me to calculate pipe centres for rads, marking sconce locations on the wall rather than accepting measurements etc.

"Very high standard of work"
Wilson has done a lot of work for me in recent years and I wouldn’t want to use anyone else. His efficiency, work ethic and attention to detail is outstanding. He can turn his hand to all aspects of a build including electrics and plumbing and takes a collaborative approach with his clients. He is a lovely person and his team are great too! Highly recommended.
