"I'd say not the best company"
I'd say not the best company, because they don't have good conversations with their clients, and they don't even answer regularly, but they did the work, which I like. And I thank you for that, apart from my previous experience!

"Terrible experience"
Terrible experience, I lost money, they ghosted me after over a year of inadequate work and 8 different project managers. I would not recommend paying them a dime or wasting your time.

"Like someone else said"
Like someone else said, I am giving only one star so I can write a review. Do NOT use this company. I wasted 11 months (had 7 different project managers-none of who knew anything about my project when I first spoke to them) and in the end, I never got a finished project- well they finally "finished it" and when I went to upload it to amazon it was riddled with errors and unusable so I had to hire a new designer. When things seemed to be going well enough they convinced me to use their marketing services as well as copyright registration- same thing, no website, no book, no marketing, no copyright registration. These people are incompetent, unprofessional and unethical. The only thing they are interested in selling services that they have no intention of fulfilling. The only reason I chose them was bc they said they had an office in NYC- this turned out not to be the case and the multiple designers they were using were no where near NYC.

"My disappointing experience with American Writers Group"
Fancy website, testimonials and a great deal drew me in, even their contract looks great and covers a variety of aspects that filled me with confidence.
I was happy with the offer, and paid my money.
At first they were very engaging;
I was assigned a Project manager who rang me early on in the piece.
English was not his first language.
Asked for a story outline and I provided one.
I asked to speak with the ghost writer to discuss my story
I was never given access to the writing team at any stage
They did not listen to what I asked for
They provided a first draft that was appalling (a primary school child could have written a better chapter)
They continually changed key information (like the main characters names)
I provided a response to have the whole lot basically redone
Continued to ask to speak with writers (never happened)
AWG rang to try and sell me copy write and UPC (barcodes) for inflated prices (which were already covered in the agreement)
Tried to upsell a batch of drawing
AWG provided another couple of terrible drafts
And then started to get ghosted by my project manager
I thought I was fortunate as I was assigned to a new project manager
New PM was engaging at first
Called/e-mailed fairly regularly in the beginning
Another non English speaking person
But then started to get ghosted by him also.
AWG then asked for second chance to do a better job.
They asked for more clarity about story, which I provided
I continued to ask to speak with the writers (Never happened)
I provided an updated copy of chapter 1 which was almost half written and a full chapter 2.
They tweaked chapter 1 (made it worse), and returned chapter 2 with no changes trying to play it like they wrote it themselves.
Called them out on the terrible work
Got ghosted real bad
Asked for a refund 23 October 2022
Discovered who the Finance Manager apparently was, added to the lengthy e-mail chain
12 Dec 2022, Finance manager confirmed my refund concern had been raised with finance
No reply e-mails from anyone from AWM over Xmas break.
Early Feb 2023, I offered alternate agreement option
Project manager instantly e-mailed suggesting they could support new agreement
PM said would call over next few days. (Never heard from him)
I have since sent 7-8 e-mails asking for a response
Have had generic response – Tried calling, when is a good time to call
I responded but no call ever happened
Asked for refund to be reinstated (technically was never un-instated)
It’s been 5 months and still waiting for my refund.
Finance manager – David Mason
Project Manager – Bruce Williams
Project manager – Adam Mullen
Sales – Aiden Matthews
This organisation has been the worst business I have ever dealt with.
Their service is disgusting
Their product is embarrassing
They seem contempt to not refund my money
They seem to have no real desire to either refund me or complete my book to even a basic standard
Buyer beware

"AWG IS A FRAUD"
AWG is a fraud company. Take the money and don't provide any service they are supposed to, and they don't refund the money as promised.
I don't believe they are paying taxes for the stolen money. Someone should close them down.
What they did for me was give me panic attacks and nightmares and put a hole in my wallet.
EVERYTHING JC. WROTE IS TRUE; DO NOT HIRE AMERICAN WRITERS GRUP.

"Do not use this group to publish!!!! It's a scam."
This is a scam. The sales department promises all you would ever need to self-publish and a decent price. Then, suddenly, as you get into the editing process, they add on things that should be included like a Copyright! It is ridiculous. Please don't use them. The editor was great, but even the sales guy had some typos in his email. As a bestselling author, I will NEVER use these people again.

"They finished my book after I serve…"

"I had a horrible experience"
I had a horrible experience, I paid and got six months of
torture. The two things they did, the cover and the ebook were not done right so I had to hire fiver to fix them so I could publish my book myself.

"To Mr. Jeff Williams: The lousiest service and incompetence"
The project started in March with a consultant, Patrick Anderson. The service is dreadful, the communication sucks, the results are non-existent - 6 months later. I paid over $ 4000 and have not seen any results. My book was listed at an incredible $ 70 at Amazon, now $ 27, against my expressed instructions to lower it to $ 16.-. No print copies, no Google optimization, no Barnes & Noble registry, no editing, no revamping my website, no providing a new website (though guaranteed in contract). Patrick demanded extra pay for website, extra pay for 25 printed copies etc. The worst communication, my inquiries remain unanswered. On Monday, August 01, 2022 I will file suit at the St. Peters, MO, court. Klaus Engelbrecht

"Still disappointed, and still waiting on a refund."
Thought I'd write a follow up review regarding the editing that was never completed on my manuscript and the several emails assuring me that I'd get my money back. I didn't.
On another note, I used Reedsy to find an editor and spent the same amount of money I gave to AWG for nothing. The editing was outstanding. I recommend checking alternate editing services so you can avoid the experience I had.
