Where to start to have it all in one post? This was by far the BEST experience ever on a trip. Even before the trip started, we received by email all information about our arrival in Ho Chi Minh City with very detailed tips that we did not even think about. While I had questions as always when travelling to a foreign country, no matter what time I was sending message though their WhatsApp an answer was coming a few second later, I even asked them if they ever sleep because I know about the jetlag between the 2 countries. We felt so reassure to travel there especially having a reliable chat with them that at any time we could get hold of them personally not on answering or robot chat – trust me this makes it all different.
EVERYTHING was seamless, the whole journey was like a dream alive, the ship was the cherry on the cake, such a luxurious experience without being posh, we could be the way we wanted to be not pretending anything. The size of this boat make you feel at home literally, still with privacy. The excursion are taylor made to show you the true, authentic Vietnam & Cambodia, a great feeling as well, to know part of our booking is going back to those communities. EVERYTHING on board was just a delight, from the AMAZING crew to the array of the food offered, the accommodations, the whole ambiance make you feel you want to stay there forever. A fabulous gift shop onboard with unique crafts you found nowhere else, EVERYTHING is made for you not to worry about, they have put an exquisite week together difficult to surpass. I could write a book on our experience in Southeast Asia the BEST way is to experiment it on your own, this ship particularly is a niche, that few know about and hope they will remain that way. Trust me book this cruise you won’t be disappointed. Already thinking of doing it all again.

"Ma 5e croisière, et de loin la meilleure."

Oui notre croisière sur le Mekong Princess était ma 5e: ce fut une experience parfaite et un tres grand plaisir.

Comme souvent la cuisine était délicieuse et le service professionnel et avec le sourire. Ce qui est plus rare est la grandeur des suites. Nous étions dans la suite Tonle et meme la salle de bain était grande avec une belle fenêtre sur la rivière. C'est du luxe a bord.

Ce qui est aussi particulier est que le bateau vogue avec un tres faible tirant d'eau. Et donc nous visitons des villages ou les autres croisières ne pourraient aller qu'après un long voyage en sampan. Nous rencontrons des villageois qui sont contents de voir des touristes parce qu'ils ne voient que ceux du Mekong Princess. Et si une famile accepte de nous accueillir dans son atelier, elle est rétribuée pour ce service et on ne sent aucune obligation d'acheter. Si on le fait, la transaction se fait directement avec la famille. On a vu un atelier de tissage, un homme faisant a la main des sampans en bois, deux generations de femmes faisant les unes des chapeaux coniques et les autres des nouilles de riz, une famille faisant des bonbons a la noix de coco, une ile couverte de vergers de fruits exotiques....

Le Mekong Princess finance également des organisations charitables locales comme cet orphelinat qui, du coup, donne une representation de danse traditionnelle sur le pont du bateau. C'était de qualité et d'un charme fou. Pareil pour un monastère bouddhiste qui a effectue pour nous une benediction de l'eau. Personne n'y est reste indifferent.

Les guides ont avec tous ces villageois une relation chaleureuse et de longue durée. Et ils sont compétents: l'un sur le Vietnam, l'autre sur le Cambodge. Et quand on se retrouve a voyager seul a nouveau on est assez stupéfait de toutes les connaissances accumulées dans le courant de cette croisière assez inouïe. Une croisière pensée et réalisée par un français, toujours a bord, qui vit au Cambodge depuis longtemps et a une tres longue experience des croisières de luxe. Eric est l'ame de tout ceci.

Superb on all fronts: comfortable and elegant suites, attentive and thoughtful staff, well appointed public spaces, and great food from Chef On. The excursions are well crurated. Highly recommended.

"Unforgeatable memories from Mekong Princess"

What a wonderful, truly memorable cruise on the Mekong. Our ship was luxuriously appointed, our cabin was spacious and very comfortable, the food was delicious. The ship’s staff were incredibly warm and friendly, they knew our names and nothing was too much trouble. The excursion program which we enjoyed immensely was designed to show us people living their everyday lives. We saw Vietnamese and Cambodian families practicing their skills and abilities in an authentic, unsanitized way. Our sincere thanks to Eric and the crew for providing us with such a memorable holiday! Watching the world go by on the Mekong was so relaxing and so special!

"A six stars experience not to be missed"

Almost at the end of our cruise and a welcome day of cruising on the magnificent Mekong, so thought I would take the quiet time to write this review before we continue on with our journey in Vietnam…… especially as I do a great deal of research and could find so little information 9n this boat.
We are ex- hoteliers (hotel Gm’s) who love to travel - we take a four/five week adventure each year (often including cruises) and take a great deal of time choosing our accommodation and food as it’s important to us….. I’m only mentioning it to say we are particular !!

We booked our first Mekong cruise with Scenic two years out as we wanted the royal Panama suite front of ship…… cancelled four months out due to lack of uptake (handled very well and full ref7nd within a week) so booked APT cruise …owners suites at front - cancelled four weeks out ( handled extremely badly and won’t be using again! - enough said)
Faced with booked flights and only three weeks to go I frantically set about finding an alternative …… I found the Mekong Princess. I enquired online and within hours I had a swift response and was all booked. Within another few hours we had our first written communication with Eric (Hotel GM on board)
Well I can only say we absolutely landed on our feet and we both know without question that we have had a far better experience than we could ever have had on any other vessel!
To start with this boat is only 14 cabins so can only sleep max 28 persons….. not the 50 - 80 most ships accommodate. We only had 14 pax on board but in my case, it was very reassuring to see in print and confirmed on social media this boat will also only run with just 2/4 guests….. no cancellations. They wish to keep staff employed and honour all bookings which is extremely commendable.

The boat itself is superbly maintained ….. it was built in 2015 and is clearly kept with a great deal of care and attention and no expense spared. The photographs truly don’t do it justice…… it’s classical and elegant but simple and in no way gaudy.

The itinerary is an interesting perfect mixture of country and city - everything runs like clockwork. Even the return to the ship where you drop your shoes to have them cleaned and returned, hand sanatise and cold towel and drink……all completed in minutes and all to ensure your maximum comfort.
We have both loved the fact that this boat being so small, visits stops that other boats cannot reach, tiny villages where we were, more often than not, the attraction!! Some very special memories we shall take with us for a very long time. The guides too Chan for Cambodia and Chung for Vietnam have both been very knowledgeable and have clearly enjoyed sharing their stories and their knowledge.

Food - I am allergic to wheat (anaphylactic allergic) and Eric, the chefs and restaurant team have been absolutely amazing - making me special bread every meal and even ensuring I get canapés each evening that accommodates my allergy. As there are only 14 guests on board each lunch and dinner is pre ordered meal. There is plenty of choice and a great combination of local and European dishes. All without exception have been outstanding…… last nights chicken terrine was one of the most delicate and delicious I think I’ve ever had !!
Each evening the restaurant has a subtle change of decor and lighting - these are the small touches that often go unnoticed but show the level of care and attention that is paid to even the smallest detail.

Suite - we took th Angkor suite on the front - a stunning large room with three full length double doors, loads of space, our own Wi-Fi, free laundry …..list goes on!! We loved it and have thoroughly enjoyed the space and privacy withown balcony out front. The suite is serviced every time you leave it ie: two excursions a day it’s cleaned three times! An amazing place to spend a glorious 8 days on the Mekong!
Staff and Team - Ably led from the front … the ever present Eric. He’s clearly a seasoned professional who knows his stuff and has the complete respect of his team. They are a wonderful group of people who go out of their way to accommodate your every need. They truly do go above and beyond and do it with a grace and friendliness that just makes everything seem so effortless (even though we both know that’s it’s not !)

In Summary if you get the chance ….. take it !! Board the RV Mekong Princess and experience this wonderful part of the country in all the glory and comfort of this magnificent vessel and its staff. We have had a truly wonderful experience that we truly believe has far exceeded anything we could have had on a larger less intimate boat.

"Super !"

Nous voilà de retour en France après un voyage des plus merveilleux en Asie. J’y suis encore je ne veux pas revenir à la dure réalité de la vie. Je veux revenir au jour ou j’ai posé mon doigt sur Mékong Princess c’était un signe du Destin. Depuis la réservation jusqu’à notre retour tout était magique. Merci à leur Directeur Éric qui nous a facilité grandement notre expérience. La semaine sur le bateau a été la plus belle semaine de ma vie j’ai eu l’impression d’être une Reine de vivre quelque chose d’accessible qu’aux riches.
Tout sur ce bateaux est luxe sans être ostentatoire, le service y est impeccable, la nourriture raffinée, un havre de paix aux gré des flots du Mékong. Toujours quelque chose à voir en navigation, ou participer à une activité à bord, lecture sur la région, classe de cuisine, dégustation de fruits exotique…Les tours étaient des plus intéressants et offrant une grande diversité. Les masseuses à bord du Mékong Princess sont phénoménales, les massages addictifs. Une salle de sport est aussi disponible
Cette initiation à l’Asie fut merveilleuse et inespéré. Mais faites ce voyage extraordinaire sur ce bateau ce croisière encore plus extraordinaire vous ne le regretterez pas. Les autochtones sont d’une gentillesse inégalée ils sont humbles et tellement attachants. Le monde est un livre ceux qui ne voyagent pas n’en lisent qu’une page. On reviendra avec grand plaisir.

Nous avons séjourné sur ce magnifique bateau pendant 1 semaine, toute l'équipe était aux petits soins pour nous, la cuisine était incroyable, et le directeur Eric à veillé à ce que nous manquions de rien. Ils nous ont surclassé, nous avons vécu cette croisière dans un cocon avec cette équipe fabuleuse qui fait que nous en garderons un souvenir inoubliable.
