Birding In Spain

"Steve West Photo"
Steve's hides worked perfectly.
However, a massive snow storm 1 day before a hide meant that the Bonelli's failed to nest and didn't turn up for the bait. In fact, it was some months before the pair returned.
Steve's people did their best to find alternatives etc...
Hotel's fine, good food etc...

"I hope you are lucky enough have Steve…"
I hope you are lucky enough to have Steve West as your guide. Since we are from North America, all the birds we saw were new to us. Steve is an expert not only in knowing where the rare and uncommon birds are but in guiding our ears to recognize songs and calls so we could find them ourselves. With Steve's guidance, we observed 57 species of birds. Afterwards, I was able to identify many of them on my own. Even common birds such as Griffon Vulture, white storks and crested and thekla larks were highlights for me, but we also visited the last remaining locale of Dupont's lark where we clearly heard their contact calls. This lovely savannah also abounded with spectacularly colored European bee-eaters, Eurasian Hoopoe, turtle doves, Golden Eagle, and little owl. Perhaps less than 10 of the endangered Dupont's lark are extant. If it were not for Steve and the work he does for conservation, this bird would not have been on my list. If you are a philanthropist looking to acquire land for conservation, please consult Steve West first. Happy Birding!

"Nice birding trip in Catalonia and Aragon"
We did a one week trip with Birding in Spain: we stayed around Lleira, in the pre-Pyrenees and in the Pyrenees.
Our guide, Steve West, was a very nice person and a wonderful birding guide. We saw a lot of species and stayed in nice hotel selected by him.
Very nice trip, we hope we'll do another one with him someday.
