My sister and I wanted a unique memorial for our father, the offerings from most stonemasons are all too similar and lack character. After a lot of research online, I found Fergus Wessel and Stoneletters. Fergus really does stand out as providing a unique service.

The website and his blog are provide a wealth of information and inspirational ideas. He was more than willing to discuss designs and make suggestions. No effort was spared. We were so impressed that we decided to commission a 2nd memorial to replace the existing one for our mother which had weathered badly.

From start to finish, Fergus was helpful and patient, and we have a beautiful headstone. He encouraged us to take our time deciding what we wanted - it has taken us 5 years, but this was definitely good advice. He made good suggestions, was open to making changes, and has created something really fitting. Also fascinating to visit his beautiful studio and see the work in progress.

After many times of looking at headstone images online , the ones that I was drawn to , always ended up being from Stoneletters . But I was still unsure about giving them a call knowing that the trips to the workshop mentioned on the website wouldn’t be possible or practical for me . But being drawn to the designs I gave Fergus a call and I am so, so glad that I did , I was reassured that this wouldn’t be a problem at all . Many emails came back and forth to be certain of all the details of the design and the outcome of it all is that thanks to Fergus and his team my mother has a unique and beautiful headstone .

When I requested guidance, Fergus was available with his knowledge and artistic contribution. When I needed to communicate something personal about my mother, he was patient and thoughtful. He managed to create something that is both beautiful, humble, and unique - something that expresses both who my mother was, and how much she is missed. The headstone is more than a stone. When it went up, there was a deep sense of peace and love, after a very difficult and sad loss.
