"Average gear for average prices"
I bought a Bela textile suit from one of Maximo Moto's stores and the experience, like the clothing, was distinctly average.
Do not believe the hype. You're not buying top-end motorcycle gear at a 70% discount. You're buying budget motorcycle gear made in Pakistan for a reasonable price. I know the difference between Alpinestar and Bela. Both are probably made in Pakistan but there's a world of difference in terms of design features and quality.
Don't get me wrong, the Bela fabric gear has good features like ventilation zips and panels, decent pocket closures and adjustability around collar, waist, wrist, elbow armour and ankle. The armour pockets in the trouser knees are easily adjustable and the general feel of the garments indicates that they're well made. The jacket and trousers that I bought are fairly easy to get into and out of, and they should be fine for a few years of commuting.
The product knowledge of the shop staff is pretty woeful. They just want to sell you anything so it's best to look over what you want to buy and TRY IT ON to make sure that it fits, the zips work and stuff like velcro and pop studs are secure. Quite why anyone would buy gear like this online and sight unseen is beyond me.
So I put my money where my mouth was and bought some gear from Maximo Moto. It was cheap enough to offset the lack of sales staff product knowledge and the lack of a big brand name. My new Bela jacket has the amusingly mis-spelled phrase "RIDE WITH COMFIRT" printed on one of the panels and the whole suit cost less than a pair of Dainese fabric trousers. You get what you pay for!
