"Cruise medical claim"

Just made claim for medical expenses around £500 from a cruise ship trip and paid out without any problem less the excess as per policy, no problem.

"Myself and my wife have used Explorer…"

Myself and my wife have used Explorer Travel Ins on many occasions and have always found them to be very competitive on price.However, the true worth of any insurance company is when they have too pay out.Unfortunately last year we had too make a medical claim.On returning home we contacted Explorer and after, I assume, they contacted our Doctor to make make sure we were not trying to pull a fast one, "as many people do these days" they were very helpful and paid our claim quickly. We are using Explorer again this year and would not hesitate in recommending them.I would add that the claim was for private Medical attention whilst on a cruise ship.

"Do NOT purchase insurance from Explorer"

We chose Explorer insurance for our recent holiday as they offered a limit of £5million pound on emergency medical cover and other expenses.

Whilst on holiday our 15month old babies face swole up and we rushed him to the nearest hospital. It was a private hospital at which we were told our insurance wouldn't cover treatment there. Then we paid for a taxi to take us out of town to a public hospital where we were also told that they could only offer us service via our EHIC cards and insurance would not cover the cost. The crazy thing was that the private hospital was actually around 60euros less than the treatment at the public hospital.

During this stressful time we managed to contact Explorer Insurance and were informed on the phone that they do not cover medical issues outside of the EHIC card and said we could pay at the public hospital and claim the money back, but they couldn't guarantee that the claim would be granted.

As the wait at the public hospital was around 6hrs and the private hospital had no wait time, we decided to pay less for the private treatment ourselves. But I question what the point in insurance was at all and would highly recommend that everyone avoid this company, or triple check on the phone what is covered before travelling.

"Do not buy travel insurance from this company.."

Do not buy travel insurance you have to keep emailing or phoning to get any thing done.. I paid out $200 on board the ship to see a doctor. I got a Measly cheque for £1.21 Its an insult AVOID at all costs.. They will get out of paying you i have asked for all my documents to be returned I am still waiting.. Explorer Travel Fogg travel all part & parcel...

"Travel Insurance beware!"

This insurance is misleading. When you have a problem they will not admit liability at the time of the illness. They say they have to wait until they receive your Doctors answers to their questions!

It is 6 months since the claim and they have still not paid out. What's the point of travel insurance?

I have reported them to the Financial ombudsman.

"DO NOT BUY my friend has been lying in …"

DO NOT BUY my friend has been lying in a Portuguese hospital for 10 days . Aged76 with a broken hip, explorer have a clause in contract advising they won't pay for private medical care but will offer alternative??? If facilities inadequate, how much more inadequate that the facility only does operation on a Monday , op was cancelled this Monday gone. She now has two bed sores, and is deteriorating. Their medical director has admitted the care has been inadequate but yet they have not offered the alternative, an absolute disgrace , only useful in the event of death
