"Very disappointing experience…"
Very disappointing experience yesterday. The food was fine but the service was very poor. There were plenty of staff around but most of the time they were together having a chat. Our drinks were sitting on the counter getting cold so we had to ask a waitress to fetch them. Another guest had clearly waited ages for someone to take his order but as they hadn't he went up to the counter to ask if he should order there. We asked for the bill and the waitress went off to clear tables so we got up and went to the toll.
It wasn't at all busy for a Saturday and with the number of staff they had there should not have been these problems.
Also the tea arrived with nowhere to put the strainer and no spoon to stir the tea.

"Disappointing "
Went in for a cooked breakfast. Waited an age for orders to be taken. We both had a double breakfast and both were , to say the least, disappointing. Hash browns were disgusting, the inner potato was brown and grey!! Sausages were tasteless. Beans were lukewarm.

"Great Food and a Great Find"
We had gammon steaks for lunch. Really good quality. Eccentric place with interesting artifacts. Staff were great. A good find and we'd come again.

"Avoid"
Absolutely disgusted. Agressive owner. Will never return. Having been a user of this restaurant for some years I have been tolerant of slow service as the staff do their best. Me and my partner went in for a meal, waited 20mins before being asked what we'd like to drink. By 45mins we were still yet to have consumed a single thing, and the staff just kept walking by ignoring any attempt for eye contact. After 55mins me and partner finally had enough and walked out (very slowly to which none of the staff reacted). As we reversed out of our parking space a large bald man runs up to the car and started banging on the side and exclaiming our food has just arrived. We stated politely that after 55mins without even been given our drinks we had had enough. He continued to be very aggressive which frightened my partner and stated he was the owner and would now have to pay for our food himself. I have never been so disgusted with any establishments performance and reaction to poor service. Anybody working in hospitality understands the importance of at least providing drinks on arrival to keep customers happy. I will never return to this establishment and put money into such an agressive mans pocket . and will actively advise all who enjoy a pleasant meal to do the same. If however you like being ignored, having sticky tables, dying of thirst, waiting in a cold barn and being abused by an angry owner than this is your place.

"Amazing food & a magical Father Christmas experience"
I have visited Home & Eat since the day they opened. Their food has continued to get better throughout the years. Early on, I felt their salads were a little bland, however things have CHANGED! The salads now excite me, the Salmon Poke bowls out of this world, the roast dinner now ranks amongst the very best in Bishops Stortford and I'm also a big fan of the brunch options. Yes it can get cold in there during the winter temperatures, but this is because of the size and type of building. I have never come in winter to find the heaters off, but I do use my noddle and come in extra layers - I do not expect it to be cosy, it's just impossible in this type of building. But I have always found the staff to be friendly. Last year we visited at Christmas for the Father Christmas experience, this was the best Father Christmas experience by far that I have taken my 3 daughters too, I was super impressed with it and my daughter totally opened up and found it really magical. I also find it a great place to bring my dog and it's such a big place that if you are not a dog lover, you'll find plenty of spaces to sit away from any dogs.

"SHOCKING"
I don't usually do reviews but we come here. So, I've been to Home and Eat three times now, and it just keeps getting worse. We moved nearby on January 4th, and I thought, "Cool, this place looks good." But, man, was I wrong.
The staff, especially this lady named Jolie, are just plain useless. They don't care about customers at all. The food is a mess too - super greasy, and the place is so darn cold that the food gets cold even before it hits the table. Plus, they serve drinks after the food, making everything even worse.
But here's the kicker: when we complained about freezing, they just shrugged it off, saying it's the way things are there. Apparently, the owner doesn't like the heater on. And get this - the lady chef came out, stared at us, and laughed along with the other lady. We were shivering, and they found it funny.
I won't be going back there. Seriously, if you're thinking about it, don't bother. The place needs some serious fixing up, and the people there don't seem to care about anything but having a good laugh at customers' expense.

"Dog friendly experience!"
I met up here today for lunch with an old friend from Colchester, having met with her here once before. As it’s “dog friendly” I took my little Lakeland terrier x Kerry Blue terrier with me for some socialisation (since I live “out in the sticks” and she seldom sees “town life”. We had a great time - dog was well behaved and food was good as was service. Icing on the cake was when my little pooch was presented with a sausage on a plate - it went down a treat!! Definitely five stars!

"Not the way to serve food 😞"
The good was ok , was served on a board with paper underneath the food. When I tempted to eat the food it just slid off the board onto the table not very good . Had to get myself a plate . Not much choice on the menu .
