"Superb learning experience"

Having just completed the Every Child Needs A Mentor training, I can whole heartedly recommend it to anyone. If you want to become a mentor or just a better parent, it is a fantastic course that is as challenging as it is eye opening. Working with Hermon who is extremely passionate about mentoring, really rubs off on you while doing the course and I found him a joy to work with and felt like I got to know him as a friend, not just a teacher. I hope to put into action all I have learned and not only make Hermon proud but my fellow trainees Shaun and Theo, who I have bonded with during the course. Highly recommended 👍👍👍👍

"Excellent mentoring service"

I have been really impressed by the work that ECNM has done with my child over the last few months.

The sessions have made a real difference in helping my son address some of the behavioural challenges he was having, gain greater self confidence and bring a new application to his school work. The speed with which they were able to mobilise and the quality of the mentor have made a really positive impact.

I have been particularly impressed at the efforts that the mentor made to relate to my son and my son's world, and tie things to his day to day experiences. This has made the sessions feel more like a friendly conversation than a formal teaching session, and been much more impactful as a result.

Going in to the first sessions, I had feared that it would be a real battle to get my son to engage with the process. However, thanks to the informal style of the mentor and their experience in gradually building relationships this was not the case at all. The sessions quickly became one of the highlights of his week.

Our daughter has absolutely blossomed whilst being mentored and it has allowed her to achieve things which we as her parents hadn’t managed to help her with. I highly recommend!

Across the country, there are children who desperately need additional support, but waiting lists are becoming longer and longer. For example, CAMHs currently has a waiting list of 20 months in West Sussex - sometimes 20 days is too long. That is where Every Child Needs a Mentor shows its worth. Within a week, we had set our children up with an online mentor and sessions had commenced. Our mentor worked with the school to find out about our children ahead of time, parents gave permission and their own input, and we were able to immediately offer a form of support that our children need. Within 6 weeks, our behavioural incidences on CPOMs had halved for the children involved in mentoring, and soft data shows how helpful the children found the sessions. The cost attached to this service has proved much cheaper than alternative provisions locally, in some cases 66% cheaper. Mentors work closely with school, children benefit quickly and best of all, support is almost immediate.

We very warmly recommend Herman and his team at ECNM for the fantastic work with our son.   We contacted ECNM as our son was having difficulties engaging with school work and was feeling unmotivated and lacking in confidence.   The introductory process was very helpful indeed as Herman discussed our son's needs in a lot of detail so that he could be matched to a mentor who would work well with him.   When a mentor was identified she arranged weekly sessions with our son and, whilst he was a little reluctant to start initially, a really positive relationship was established.   Within a short period of time we could see that our son valued his sessions and was benefitting from them.   With his mentor's help he applied to a new course and is now thriving at college, making friends and enjoying life.   Having the opportunity to set the agenda himself, develop goals with his mentor and enjoy an independent relationship with her has been so helpful to him and he has been so much happier, motivated to achieve and confident.  We have had an excellent experience of ECHM and we are very grateful.

Every Child Needs a Mentor have been brilliant for helping my son with the transition from primary to senior school. My son had started to show signs of anxiety around the changes as well as exhibiting some boundary pushing behaviour that comes with his age. ECNM paired him with a mentor who feels as though he was trained specifically to work with my son. He's helped him overcome his nerves and anxiety around starting school and as a result my son has really enjoyed starting senior school, he's made some good friends and is confident within himself. His mentor has helped him set (and reach) goals around structuring his day at home, recognising what's important (schoolwork & relationships at home) and to prioritise it over gaming and other activities. I love how 'held' I feel my son is by his mentor and have no hesitation in recommending ECNM. Their service should be available to all children.

Excellent service from the Director, Manager and more importantly the Mentor Leah who works with my child!

I particularly like the fact that there is a pre-sign-up process where the child's needs, together with the aims and objectives of the mentoring are discussed. This takes place prior to the assignment of an appropriate mentor. For me this indicated that there was an intention to serve my child as best as possible, rather than a focus on the sale. The fact that the Director Herman who is both knowledgeable and personable took time to find out what we wanted from the service was particularly special!

As for the mentoring itself, my daughter was able to build a relationship with the mentor who she grew to know, like and trust. Within weeks I found that my child was more focused, motivated and organised with her studies and generally more content.

One thing that I intentionally did was to allow my child who was 12 and is now 13, to set the agenda as much as possible. Having ownership of the process was integral to their personal growth and I would encourage other parents to do so if appropriate.

All in all a hugely positive experience, with lovely people and I would not hesitate to recommend ECNM.

"Great relationships formed with approachable Mentor"

The mentor has been great with our children and has formed great relationships and had a good impact from his sessions.
The communication with the team as a whole has been good, easy with diary match-ups and available if needed.
Some IT issues but worked together to resolve these with the new COVID restictions and looking forward to receiving training on the new exciting platform and all that has to offer
