"Bunch of liars and cheats"
Bunch of liars and cheats. Luckily I saw the scam and stopped the scam. Law suit on the way. Let's see them lose this and have cough up $10m. Classless bunch of hicks.

"I am a collector got Sick and had a…"
I am a collector got Sick and had a heart attack and needed to sell off 24 of my 90 vehicles collection. I had never sold anything at Mecum’s prior always bought and sold at Barrett Jackson for twenty years. On Tuesday in Glendale Steve mecum sales person told me don’t worry the money is there in the start of the auction. After Tuesday I wanted to pull the rest of my vehicles. The auctioneer on Tuesday rushed through the vehicles so fast. 20-30 seconds that it on the block. He didn’t try to even work the price. Then off to next one. For example 1968 Camaro RS fully restored matching numbers bought at Barrett Jackson for $80 thousand five years ago sold at mecum for only $33 thousand. CJ7 1982 decked out. Bought Barrett Jackson $78 thousand sold at mecum for $23 thousand. Collectors stay clear of mecum and don’t believe what they tell you. They will mislead you to get the vehicles then tell you you new the risk. Risk, they didn’t have any buyers there. It was almost empty when the auction started on Tuesday And the contract you sign gives them all the rights to dictate to you if you want the rest of your vehicles not auctioned yet removed because the auctioneer was rushing and not working the price. Don’t consign at Mecum’s. John burns 480-560-4390 call me anytime.

"Bought and sold at Mecum"
Bought and sold at Mecum. You pay TOP, TOP dollar to be in a good time slot (as a seller), only to go thru at a time that most suits Mecum-as opposed to seller. Great for buyers though, discount after hrs/dinnertime/ghost town deals ! Big, arrogant , take it or leave it attitude, unfortunately. Lost touch with folks that really make their business work, IMHO.

"They don't tell you in advance That…"
They don't tell you in advance That they charge $ 150 for paper work on top of the 10% buyers fee.
They also don't mention you will pay sales tax in the state of the auction even for out of state buyers.
Overall the whole organization is cocky and rude.

"It's all about the Benjamin's"
Sold my swing bike at the Chicago auction. I couldn't be there to watch my bike being sold (I bet it sold really fast after it got to the reserve price I put on it). I had to bowl in my Friday morning league. I didn't want to screw anyone who was going to buy the bike, so I was honest with all my descriptions about it, not like the swing bike sold at Elmer's auction (I pity the person that bought it at Elmer's for $4950 with missing and replaced parts. The person who bought my bike got a bargain, all original with no missing or replaced parts. On the Mecum website it showed my bike's price that I thought it sold for and I was expecting a check that was $200 less (seller's fee) than the hammer price. I received a check that was a lot lower what I thought I would get. They actually put in the buyer's fee in the final shown price. Luckily, I don't have anything else to sell through them.
I don't know why Mecum has to charge everybody an admission charge just to come in and watch the auction. I can see them charge people who want to bid but not watch. Once the money starts to come in there is no stopping the greed. CHARGE EVERYBODY!!! And they probably pay their workers next to nothing. I bet they are volunteers and have to pay Mecum to drive the cars in for the auction. They make the volunteers pay at the pro golf tournaments.
