Parkfield Dental Practice

"I am unlikely to go to this dentist…"
My apologies to Parkfield Manchester dentist - It is Parkfield in Taunton I was reviewing for poor service. Thank you for taking time to respond to this poor review. I have not been to Parkfield Manchester - sorry for this inadvertent review therefore. Visitors should ignore this review

"Avoid - prime candidate for Panorama uncovered"
I visited this practise as a first time patient. Firstly, both the receptionist and the dental nurse were lovely and very helpful, I cannot fault them.
The dentist carried out the examination and from the get go, my gut instinct told me something wasn't right with the Dentist. He suggested very unusual works (shave a tooth a put a filing over the top to treat gum recession). I declined this procedure. He then suggested one filing, and potentially a second. The Dentist is the expert so you should be able to trust their judgement and proceed. But still, my gut instinct was telling me something wasn't right.
I explained that I needed a new night retainer so they quoted me two options, standard and an Invisalign one. I was astonished at the prices and this is when I decided to dig deeper and seek alternative prices. They quoted me:
Invisalign Vivera £550 for 3x (£300 nearly everywhere else)
Generic retainer £240 for 1x (£85 elsewhere)
Given the substantial price differences, I went to an alternative dentist for a check-up and to get the Vivera retainers for £300.
New patient consultation £98 (elsewhere £50-65)
The other dentist was lovely and was astonished by Parkfield's Dentist recommendations. They said they would never recommend shaving a tooth for gum recession unless it was very sensitive (it's not) or I had a big cosmetic need (I don't). They said I don't need any fillings and certainly not in the teeth where the Parkfield Dentist suggested I need at least one, possibly two.
Now, I get Dentistry is subjective, but this just felt wrong. I get they are a business but clearly the lines of profit and service have got blurred. It’s criminal to be pushing these sorts of procedures that patients don't need. For clarity, I'm not a tyre kicker looking for cheapest products and service either. I am happy to pay a fair price for excellent products and service. What is key for me is trust and I couldn't trust Parkfield Dentist one bit.
I'm so happy I sought an alternative opinion and I would strongly encourage all other (existing or potential) patients to do the same.
