"Perfection in Panama"
I recently traveled with Passport Poppin to Panama and had so much fun! This was my first time traveling outside of the country since before the pandemic hit, which is why I opted to take a group trip. I had no idea what to expect but left feeling incredibly satisfied with my stay in Panama. The Passport Poppin organizers were authentically kind, thorough, and responsive to any need that came up in real time. For example, when I mentioned concern about being more inclusive with dietary restrictions during our group-provided meals, the Passport Poppin girls were able to accommodate me so that I always had something to eat and expressed a true desire to be more inclusive in the future. They were always around to promote community amongst the group, safety within this new country, and incredibly lit vibes š¤š. Passport Poppin was mega prepared, organized and so so so much fun! Iād definitely consider traveling with them again ā„ļø

"Yes, yes, yes!"
Yes, yes, yes! I am an avid traveler, but Iāve never traveled with a travel group before. Iāve always planned my own trips which I love doing. My trips are always very thorough and fun. So to be honest, I was pretty hesitant about paying upfront for a trip that someone else planned with people that I donāt know. However, my friend was very adamant about me coming on this vacation with her. This trip was planned in collaboration with The Hike Crew a Black owned hiking group based out of DC. My friend brought me to their Black History Month hike and the vibes were immaculate so I was convinced to go on this trip to Panama with the groups.
I was so surprised at how much fun I had! Not that I thought it wouldnāt be fun, but I honestly just didnāt have any expectations. All the activities were very fruitful and engaging and just downright fun. Everyone on the trip was so kind and it truly felt like a little family we created within just a short period of time. We got to eat amazing food visit indigenous people, and intimate villages explore the city and nature and so much more. My only note would be that as a vegan, I wouldāve appreciated more inclusion for dietary options. But besides that everything was literally perfect. All the ladies who planned the trip were so kind and accommodating, and ensure that our needs were met at every corner. I had the best time and will definitely be on another Passport Poppin trip very soon.

" 10/10 Absolutely recommend "
My friends and family thought I was insane for going on this trip with complete strangers to a country I've never been to before but Iām glad I did. We did it Joe!!!! The group of ppl on this trip were Absolutely Amazing!!! We all clicked immediately, definitely have some life long friends and travel besties after this trip. The hotel selected was a really great choice, super comfy, spacious ,close to great restaurants, Amazing Staff and it offered a great luxury balance to all the trekking we did on various excursions. Our tour guides Dan and Kevin were the absolute best, 10/10, extremely knowledgeable, so kind and patient with us. I do wish more options for the various excursions would have been given. The boat tour and island hopping on the 1st day was so much fun.
The hiking/waterfall experience however, definitely brought me closer to God. I be in the gym and Iām pretty active but I'm far from a hiker so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Definitely wish I was more prepared. I would have brought more of a book bag rather than a tote and definitely hiking shoes/ sneakers rather than the water shoes, would have preferred something with more grip. The waterfall itself once we made it there was beautiful but the hike there was nerve racking and terrifying. Iām sooooooo glad we all made it to and from safely but I was 1000% afraid of falling, really injuring myself or sliding off the edge the entire time. So much so that I couldnāt truly enjoy the waterfall because I was fearful of the hike back. I know it was the time of year that we went but there were plenty of times I would have felt safer trekking / swimming through the water and it taking longer rather than going up and down the muddy mountain holding on to trees, roots and branches for support. Our guides and the members of the tribe were life savers,Thank God !!!! I know we put them through hell but Iām so grateful for them. The landscape was breathtaking and indigenous tribe that we got to break bread with was trully the best part of the day. They were so welcoming and we learned so much about their culture. Overall I would Absolutely do another group trip like this now that I know what to expect! Shout out to Passport Poppin and The Hike Crew for setting this up!!! Miss Y'all Already!!!

"This was my 1st trip with Passportā¦"
This was my 1st trip with Passport Poppin and I must say, it was a fun filled and adventurous trip. Akeia and Chasmin did an amazing job with organizing this Panama trip šµš¦ from beginning to end. The hotel, food, and excursions were on point. It was great meeting new people from different states, while aiding one another to concur our fears. I can't wait to see what Passport Poppin has instored for my 50thš„³ Birthday Celebration next month.

"Panama 2024"
A group trip with a collective of people, many of whom you've never met can seem daunting, scary, intimidating, yet still intriguing. I've never been on a trip of this nature to this scale and I did not know what to expect. I'll start with the most important part. I had a blast and would certainly recommend this group to anyone itching to venture on a trip, who may be on the fence.
The stay:
The hotel was amazing and not just from a comfort level. The convenience to get to all necessary locations was second to none. The art and beauty of the hotel interior really made you want to explore the and take in the beauty. The 24 hour pool, which kept the water temperature regulated through all hours of the day, was amazing as it also had a bar for people to purchase drinks to enjoy poolside.
The events:
Have you ever been on a trip to a new country and only felt like a tourist? I know I have but with this trip, I got to experience the beauty of Panama in ways I would have never imagined. We experienced the fun that you would expect on a group trip, but being able to visit an indigenous tribe, walk through a legitimate rainforest, only to be reach a beautiful waterfall that we all were able to experience in person was an unforgettable experience. Going to the indigenous tribes community, and be welcomed, in their unique language that requires a Spanish interpreter to even interpret to English, and then witness a ceremonial dance with music was something I could not think to ask for on my own. All of that was just one day of this trip. There's so many things I could detail but I want to leave some surprises for whoever reads this and decides to book a trip.
The people:
Passport Poppin has some amazing hosts. Akeia and Chasmin were nothing short of amazing. They made sure to make everyone feel welcome. They made sure to remember everyone's names so no one just felt like a random person on a trip. Akeia being, at the very least, bilingual was also an amazing add as she could not only speak directly to the natives, but help any of us who are lacking in the ability to communicate as effectively as we may want to with our limited language knowledge.
Another testament to their hosting is their ability, and willingness, to listen to the group. There's many hosts who would plan something, and regardless of what the group wants, they move forward with no adjustments. They are not those hosts. When the group realized our bus the first day was too small for our comfort, we were awoken to a larger bus the very next day. On the first day when hunger struck and the schedule dictated that lunch would be another few hours later, they called an audible to allow a group of people to be satiated and satisfied, and I believe this shows how their focus is the group.
Overall:
While I have known The Hike Crew, who partnered with Passport Poppin for this trip, I had never met anyone from Passport Poppin. After leaving this trip, I genuinely feel that I made some new friends. I have memories that will not leave me. I have a huge respect for this group, that is Black Woman owned and led, creating spaces for people to safely experience new things with new people. If you take anything from what I wrote, just book and go on a trip.

"Panama Poppinā 2024"
I recently had the pleasure of joining Passport Poppinās Panama trip, organized in conjunction with The Hike Crew, and I can confidently say it was an experience of a lifetime. As a Black woman-owned travel company, Passport Poppin exceeded all my expectations and provided a rich, immersive travel experience that was culturally enlightening, incredibly fun and very active.
The itinerary was a blend of adventure and cultural exploration. We hiked through the breathtaking rainforest, visited historical sites, and indulged in the vibrant local cuisine.
What truly set this trip apart was the sense of community and camaraderie. Traveling with a group of like-minded individuals, led by passionate, and knowledgeable local guides from Panama made the experience even more special. The guides were not only well-versed in the local culture and history but also made sure everyone felt included, safe and valued.
Passport Poppinā, allowed us to focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about the details.
Passport Poppinās commitment to promoting Black travel and creating inclusive travel experiences is truly inspiring. This trip to Panama was more than just a vacation; it was a celebration of culture, community, and the joy of exploration.
Thank you, Passport Poppin and The Hike Crew, for an incredible journey in Panama. I canāt wait to join you on another adventure!
