I have submitted a poor review about the hotel we stayed in. MHB themselves were not directly responsible. However, what was stated on our hotel voucher that was bought for us by our daughter's as a treat, and what was stated on the confirmation email when we booked the break didn't quite match up.
We were asked to pay £85 extra on arrival for some things we didn't specifically ask for. The hotel stated it was for an upgraded room. That in itself was a joke! Also within this cost it was for our evening meal, which was fair enough, but what we received as a meal was appalling and not worth it. On the confirmation email from MHB, it stated that we would get £25pp towards the evening meal. This we did not get, so we were still baffled and confused at this extra cost. The evening meal was not worth the £25 allowance that we didn't get anyway. it was not even worth £10pp in our opinion.
Whilst MHB haven't specifically done anything wrong, the voucher and the booking confirmation email were too ambiguous, and we therefore felt that that we did not get anywhere near what we thought was on offer or what we expected.
I agree, that we made the choice of hotel based on the reviews and images we saw. Unfortunately, none of which lived up to expectations. The hotel was in poor condition and the food was terrible. It was possibly the worst value for money I have ever experienced staying in many hotels through work in the past 40 years.
MHB should perhaps visit and stay at some of the hotels and experience them personally. This sort of thing cannot be good for their reputation.
I know quite a number of the hotels on the MHB list and they are very good indeed, so I expected the same standard with this one. Big mistake!
