Very informative pre-trip information followed by a personal meeting in Kathmandu. Excellent organisation throughout the trip with helpful, well informed and enthusiastic staff working for The Mountain Company in Nepal. Well planned trekking route with our additional extra time in Pokhara and Chitwan National Park also organised by The Mountain Company.

Haa Valley Pilgrims (October 14 - October 25) and Druk Path (October 25 - November 03) in Bhutan.

Amazing scenery treks combined with well organized cultural tours. The Bhutanese guide was very knowledgeable of the trekking region and all the historical sites. The crew was always ready to help if needed. Three hot meals each day of delicious Bhutanese food made from local ingredients such as red rice, oyster mushroom and local cheese.

This is my eighth and ninth trek with The Mountain Company (TMC) and will continue to trek with TMC. This is because Roland, owner/director, put safety of the crew and trekkers his priority. He responds to questions and concerns on a timely manner. As well, he seeks feedback at the end of each trek. He takes feedback seriously and make changes if required.

Incredibly well organised trip - everything was very intelligently planed out, on time, and we were looked after all the way. Trekking at altitude is a challenge and TMC made the experience as accessible and enjoyable as can be hoped for.

"The Ama Dablam Luxury Lodge Tour with…"

The Ama Dablam Luxury Lodge Tour with The Mountain Company was a fantastic experience for our family of 4 (2 adult children). The guides were absolutely superb and the lodges comfortable with electric blankets and hot showers. The walk follows part of the Everest BC walk and the track was understandably quite busy but we were exceptionally lucky with magnificent weather and incredible mountain views. Roland was meticulous in his attention to detail and could be contacted at all times both before and during the trip. I would highly recommend for anyone who would like a beautiful trek of moderate intensity.

2024 Kanchenjunga BC to Makalu Basecamp
An epic, long (35 day), difficult camping trek for experienced hikers and campers. I loved the remoteness of the regions visited, starting in the rain forest and walking up to Pangpema (5,143m) at the northside base camp of Kanchenjunga. I have a huge respect for the porters and kitchen crew, walking ahead of the group, either carrying huge loads or kitchen equipment and beat us to the campsite at night to set up tents or preparing meals.
The local leaders Bhim, Sanja, Pasang and the rest of the trek team have been amazing with their customer service. They always made me feel safe, my bag arrived on time at the camp at night and the meals prepared were very delicious. Many thanks to the local trek team and Roland Hunter for putting his heart and soul into organizing treks offered by the Mountain Company.

"The most epic and enjoyable Great Himalayan Trail experience "

The Mountain Company have delivered a 42 day trek that exceeded all expectations. From initial planning and enquiries they were knowledgable , professional and open about the trek and took time to speak to me by zoom to determine my suitability. The Kangchenjunga to Makalu BC GHT was an epic trek, where thorough planning and organisation was essential for it to succeed. TMC gave me the confidence that this was happening and with their vast knowledge of Nepal were able to deliver an amazing adventure from start to finish, walking through the most amazing terrain, often in very remote locations. From the fellow trekkers, to the cook team, the porters, the excellent international leader ( Robert Mads Anderson) and all the Kathmandu staff, particularly Roland Hunter, we experienced a cohesive group, tackling challenging days and terrain with enthusiasm and good humour. The fact that this worked so successfully was largely down to the diligence and commitment of Roland and TMC- thank you for an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. Would highly recommend this trek ( make sure you are fit enough mentally and physically) and highly recommend this company - would have no hesitation choosing TMC again for subsequent trekking.

An unforgettable trip that completely delivered (and in some cases surpassed) our expectations. We felt very safe and cared for when on-trip, in-country and we look forward to returning to Nepal and would choose The Mountain Company again. This is because it is an organised and very professional operator and Roland is very communicative. Their trips are organised with care for the wider trek team and a sensitivity to where they operate. And the trips are FUN!

"Gentle hiking in Croatia "

A great laidback gentle holiday which had it all - a few hikes, city breaks and island hopping boat trips all coordinated by our equally laidback guide Marco who exuded calm confidence and was a fountain of knowledge. Having only four of us (friends) out of a possible maximum of twelve, we were gently herded along the trails and the itinerary seamlessly amended to suit both our wishes and the weather - and I suspect our joint abilities (average age 70). Not too testing but a great introduction to a beautiful country and we travelled at the right time to miss the crowds and the inclement weather.
Highly recommend for those who are not competitive walkers and who like to walk but also linger and observe.

I have just returned from a wonderful 17 day trek in a remote part of Ladakh in NW India organised by The Mountain Company. This was my fourth trek with this company and without hesitation I recommend them to anyone wishing to trek in the Himalayas. Their MD, Roland Hunter, is always available to give detailed advice on the wide variety of treks they operate ( a mix of long and short, tough or moderate, camping or lodges).
