I first interacted with Andy Speaks through interaction on Kenya Autism Alliance Facebook group. Where parents and caregivers of autistic children network and share information e.g school placement, medication advise, access to therapists and they also get to vent on the challenges they face on a daily basis.

Dr. Sylvia has been a great Autism mum warrior by founding Andy Speaks and Nexus Theraphy. She is walking the same journey and can confidently guide younger parents and caregivers in their journey.

Andy Speaks has counselling services for families and they recent launched " her seat" where counselling services focused on caregivers especially mothers will be offered at their Nexus Theraphy Centre.

Andy Speaks also held webinars during the pandemic which helped parents like I to remain hopeful as basic things like wearing masks was an uphill task for our children. The restricted movement was also a challenge for hyperactive children. Who additionally couldn't access therapists. The state of joblessness of caregivers and parents added to feelings of hopelessness and depression. Additionally they mobilized with the Office of the Women Rep, Nairobi who distributed free diapers, masks and sanitizers to household with autistic children. I appreciated this kind gesture.

Andy Speaks has a great digital resource hub with teaching and therapy materials depending with a child's challenges. I identified great sources for my children with neurological challenges and they have made shipping arrangements for the items to be brought to Kenya. These items aren't available locally.

Andy Speaks organised for a Mother's day outing on 25th May 2024 and additionally gave attendees 10% discount vouchers at their Nexus Therapy Centre. I look forward to visiting the centre with my children and get their assessment done.

I am a producer of an online talk show in Kenya called Chronicles La Familia, where we cover stories and conversations around family.
