The instructors do a fantastic job in motivating the children and keeping them engaged. Dai is an extremely knowledgeable instructor and the children loved learning from him.
The activities are fun and varied!
The chefs are amazing and help to create such a warm, family-feel to the trip.

"You won’t find a better activity center in South Wales"

Amazing activity center where the staff’s main priority is to make sure the children have a full, safe and enjoyable experience. Both, instructors and housekeeping staff, are extremely accommodating and they make sure any type of need do not get overlooked and neglected.
Not only the children are well looked after: For accompanying adults, the center makes sure we can fulfil our duty of care in a very helpful and fun environment.
Cannot recommend a better place to take children to explore this beautiful part of the country

"Amazing venue and great staff"

Govilon hosted a weekend camp for 39 of our Scouts and Leaders. The weekend was really well organised and the staff were very flexible in setting a personalised programme of activities and then adjusting to suit the changeable weather over the weekend.
The accommodation was ideal and the food was fantastic. No one went hungry!
Amazing venue and great staff. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

"Days Activities"

We had a Mountain Climbing and Gorge Walking activity day with Govilon for my 9 year old children and a very apprehensive wife. Our 2 instructors Dai and John were excellent in reassuring everyone and putting them at ease while making sure we all learnt new skills and had lots of fun. Highly recommended.

"Family Holiday at The Govilon Activity Centre!"

We stayed at the Govilon Activity Centre from August 21st to August 28th for a very last minute booked family holiday.
What a find!
The booking process was easy and I found Nick overwhelmingly accommodating towards a panicking father trying to find a holiday for our friends and our family whose long booked French holiday had been cancelled at the last minute due to the Global Pandemic.
What a fantastic facility the Govilon Activity Centre is!
We arrived a little early, however, were warmly welcomed by Nick, Dai and the team who took the time to show us around the buildings and explaining all they had to offer.
The centre was spotlessly clean and very welcoming.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped and left us wanting for nothing!
The main dining area offered a great 'communal hub' which acted as central focus for our holiday.
The bedrooms were cleverly appointed, very comfortable and worked well for our families group.
Dai kindly allowed us to use their 'Fire-Pit' which allowed us to enjoy a 'camp-fire' experience with our children. The views from the Garden are breathtakingly beautiful.
As a group, we took advantage of a couple of activities that the centre offer.
Gorge Walking - What a fantastic experience this was. Dai and Jon were incredibly patient with us and took the time to explain about the Gorge. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and I have to be honest, seeing our children happily throw themselves down rock slides and into freezing cold water made me very proud!
Bush Craft - We did this activity for the younger children in our families and again, they still talk about it 6 weeks later! Dai was incredible with his patience and explanations of how things work, and why you should do things in certain ways. He has certainly left a lasting impression on them all.
I can not recommend the Govilon Centre highly enough, and as a group, we intend to return for a short break in 2021.
Many thanks to Nick, Dai and the entire team for making our holiday such a memorable and special week away in what has been a truly difficult and challenging year for everybody.
If you are looking for a family holiday that will ensure lasting memories and a certain great time, do not look past the Govilon Activity Centre!

"Canoeing with Dai!"

We recently did canoeing with instructor Dai in Abergavenny. From start to finish the experience was fantastic. Dai was informative and extremely knowledgeable, but also very funny making sure we were having tons of fun. This is exactly what we were looking for in terms of a 3 hour session, we would definitely use Govilon again in the future!!

"ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!"

Absolutely superb! I've been there 3 years in a row (school's residential). All staff is friendly, warm and welcoming, instructors are professional, skilled, trained and knowledgeable. They've got perfect approach to everyone, variety of activities, individually agreed. Food is amazing! HIGHLY recommended.

"Simply a fantastic host for our u18 girls rugby tour"

We ALL had such an amazing fun time at Govilon.. Looking back at the pictures that were taken its so wonderful to see everyone just smiling from ear to ear or laughing,

All your staff, from the lovely ladies in the kitchen who were so friendly and helpful – even finding us a lamp in order that we could use a ‘disco’ bulb for the Saturday night - to the amazing, friendly, expert activity instructors. One of our mums was absolutely petrified of heights, yet Dai talked her through so calmly and patiently so that she did actually come down the baby abseil wall (for her that was like doing the big one!!!) and she was so chuffed with herself. The Gorge Walking was awesome, albeit a little on the cold side (hahaha) but such fun and the most amazing memories have been made by all of us.

We commented later on how wonderful it was that all of our girls and adults just mucked in and helped each other, young old, small, big, we all became one big unit – which was very special.

Like to give a special shout out to Dai and his wing man ( I cant remember his name, but wearing a green puffa jacket), he was providing some great tunes to sing along to on the way back so created a bit of party bus which helped us to forget that we were wet and a little cold still - “put the lime in the coconut ‘ will forever remind me of the amazing day. 😊

Not one complaint or moan was received about anything during our stay with you. (And that is some testament). The food was plentiful and superb, the dorms were spotless and warm, along with the shower/WC areas. It was a perfect venue for our group of mad girls and parents (well I think a perfect venue for any group of people)

Govilon is a little jewel that we were so very lucky to have come across and we will ensure your richly deserved praises are sung far and wide.

"We had the BEST time!"

A group of 11 of us travelled to Wales from West London to have some 'team bonding'. We had a go at archery and gorge walking. Both experiences I personally, was quite nervous for however!! I (and most of the team) ended up thoroughly enjoying every part of both experiences. 2 days on I am still aching from the walk but I am super proud we all managed to do it (and have a LOT of laughs along the way!). Jon, who organised the day and accommodation with is lovely and very helpful. Everything was smooth sailing. Debbie was awesome, instructing us at the archery along with Dai, who then went on to take us on our gorge walk. I quickly fell in love with this man’s enthusiasm for what he was doing and he really did egg me on to push myself!

We stayed for one night and had the accommodation to ourselves. It was incredibly clean, spacious and perfect for us with a mixed team of men and women. I could go on and on but I will leave this review as, 10/10. Would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks all at Govilon Activity Centre for making our team building experience an unforgettable one.

"High quality outdoor education provision"

For many years, pupils and teachers from my primary school (I am currently Head) have been visiting Govilon Activity Centre for residential trips lasting a week. We have tried alternative residential bases but always returned to Govilon because of the high quality care, comfortable accommodation, affordability and experienced/knowledgeable instructors. My daughter also attended Govilon as a secondary school pupil and thoroughly enjoyed her time there.
