"Found a room in just a few weeks "

I actually found flatmate finders a great site to use! It’s free and I found a room with the free option in just a few weeks.
It was easy to use and message landlords, I’d say the only critique is that you can’t add specific words to your search like ‘pool’, ‘balcony’ etc but other than that I thought it was better than ‘flatemates.com’

"Dubious and unsafe for women"

I'd be very careful about this website, if I were you. If you are offering a room in a home, Flatmate Finders' website boasts that it allows you a free plan in which you can set up a profile (nice) and "receive messages" from prospective housemates. However, you'll soon find out that you can't view any messages whatsoever, not unless you pay a fee! In any country that uses the English language, it is generally accepted that to 'receive' a message means that you can read it. For instance, I 'receive' an email = it is in my inbox and I am perfectly at liberty to view it and read it. For instance, I 'receive' a parcel, which means it is delivered to me, I now have it in my possession and can open it as I wish. In the universe of Flatmate Finders, however, to 'receive' means that other people can send you messages, that you'll never see, as they are blocked. To me, that is false advertising and I would suggest that they make it obvious that all you really get for the free plan is the ability to set up a profile of your place. Some honesty and transparency is needed here. Disappointing.
UPDATE: The comment below does not address my criticism. So what if you offer refunds. Your website needs to start advertising in an honest fashion. If you can receive a message, you should be able to read it. Full stop.
SECOND UPDATE: Once again the comment below does not address my criticism. How nice for you that you are a big and important website. Does that mean that you are exempt from truth in advertising laws? When are you going to fix up your website and admit that the basic membership, for folks offering a room, does NOT entitle the user to 'receive' messages, but only to collect them unread? You seem to be using this review as an opportunity to market yourself, which is hardly the point. And another thing! Yesterday, I got sexually harassed by one of your website users. I have screenshots of their comments. However, your response to me is that this person deactivated their profile, and so you can do nothing - not figure out who they were, not remove their profile permanently, not give them a warning, nothing whatsoever to ensure that female users of Flatmate Finders are kept safe and treated with respect. Surely the programmers of your site would be able to keep tabs on all users, in case of issues like these?

"garbage"

No wonder I just default to flatmates.com.au. Flatmatefinders' website is garbage. I have to set up an entire profile just to see listings. I'm not talking about an account, I already had one, but have to answer heaps of questions to set up a profile, before I can even search for rooms.

"Horrible platform that hates pensioners"

Horrible platform that hates and discriminates against pensioners and poor people who can not afford a mobile phone. Nathalie in particular was unable to explain why a phone number is needed for verification, in fact, Nathalie was not able to explain what verification meant, and recommended to find someone with a phone, what is the point of verification? Not only was Nathalie lacking any empathy, they were too dense to see the flaw in their statements. Unfortunate platform that goes to great lengths to ensure people are not getting connected and getting access to a fundamental right, shelter.

So pensioners, and poor people looking for housemates to share the financial stress, should not be difficult, but flatmates.com.au likes to flex over poor people, Nathalie in particular is incredibly dense and lives and unexamined life, thus an unfulfilled life and needs to take out their puerile emotional development on other people, when they should be enabling people to shelter, a fundamental right. Nice work flatmatefinders

"Where is minus 5 stars"

Where is minus 5 stars? Only started using their service today, I thought the positive feedbacks were real. I'm a landlord, legitimately advertising my apartment. I was messaging every possible matches as per Flatmatefinder suggested. Suddenly, they sent me an email saying that after careful consideration, the management decided to cancel my login email address. What a joke. But no worries, I can now say for a fact that majority of the matches you find on the Flatmatefinder are fake profiles as I could see as little as less than 10% of people I messaged online READ the message. And most probably 90% of the profiles on Flatmatefinder are made up because they all knew my messages eh (that one person carefully reading people inbox). 🙄 If I were a scammer mate, I would not have chosen your website, no money to be made here especially when prospective tenants could do in-person inspections. Very difficult to scam people. Use your brain here.
