I was given a fair and reasonable quote for an installation on a new property that are all pre-wired internally from 2022 for EV's under the current regs. None of this "standard installation" nonsense trying to charge full price. Undertaken in a fortnight.

Our installer Dan was really friendly arrived on time and was ready to start as soon as got the Ohme charger. It took only a few days from ordering my EV charger to it being installed. The fitter arrived at exactly the time given to me. It was explained what was to happen and he spent time listening to me to find the best place to install the charger and the accompanying wiring. On completion, all relevant test were carried out, the site cleared of the debris from the installation and left clean and tidy.

Choosing a new EV is comparatively straight forward. Watch reviews on YouTube, go to dealers, test drive various makes and models and make a choice. Easy(ish) then get excited waiting delivery - at 70 years old, I dont get excited about much these days!

The choice of Home Charger is rather more daunting. Which one, what about wiring, circuit brakers, fuse boxes. earthing, power. Aargh. I contacted some bigger suppliers with their wizzy Facebook ads and claims but speaking with the small and independent Affordable EV Charging was different.

First contact took the confusion away. We talked at length. Chose the right charger for our needs, discussed all the installation issues (ours is a very rural location with some complications) and settled on a price - not the cheapest but competitive. Installed within the week. On the day, Dan was great, explained everything, efficient and we are completely satisfied.

My recommendation - go independent - they have the desire and need to care.
