"Customer service cannot be faulted"
Customer service cannot be faulted. When I first tried on my new varifocals I wasn't able to read fluently with the lower part of the lenses. New measurements were taken, new lenses ordered, and fitted a week later. No quibbling, excellent service.

"Disappointingly Experience"
Disappointingly Experience – Avoid If You Value Good Customer Service.
After reading many positive reviews about Bowen Opticians, I decided to give them a try. Despite their higher prices compared to other opticians, I believed the quality of service might justify the cost. I booked two appointments, one for glasses and another for contact lenses.
The first appointment went well. The optician was friendly, and I felt like I was in good hands. I received my prescription and ordered glasses online from a retailer I had researched beforehand. A few days later, my glasses arrived. I loved the frames, but I quickly noticed that my vision in the left eye was blurry. At first, I thought this might just be part of the adjustment period, as the optician had mentioned that it could take time to adapt to a new prescription. However, after several attempts, I realized that I couldn’t wear them without feeling dizzy.
Concerned, I returned to Bowen Opticians to have my glasses checked against the prescription.
The receptionist was polite but needed to consult the manager. To my surprise, the manager refused to help, simply stating that since I hadn’t purchased the glasses from them, it wasn’t their problem. I was advised to contact the retailer instead. When I asked how they could be so sure that the glasses were at fault rather than the prescription itself, they seemed uncertain but still refused to assist me.
Checking the prescription against the glasses would have taken only a few minutes, but the manager showed no interest. I would suggest educating the manager, as making an error in a prescription is considered medical negligence. It is the responsibility of the medical professional who issued and signed it. Therefore, this matter will be reported to the General Optical Council (GOC) and Ombudsman Services. We could easily avoid this situation.
A few days later, I attended my second appointment for contact lenses. When I arrived, the optician immediately mentioned that she was aware of the issue with my glasses. It turned out that after my previous visit, she had reviewed my prescription and discovered that she had made a mistake, she had entered the wrong axis for my left eye. What’s most disappointing is that no one took responsibility or even had the decency to contact me and admit the mistake earlier. This kind of attitude makes me lose faith in people. We all make mistakes, but the way you handle them defines your integrity. Sadly, it seems that honesty and accountability are becoming rare qualities.
No one from Bowen Opticians had contacted me to acknowledge the error or offer a correction until my second appointment. Instead, they had completely dismissed my concerns simply because I hadn’t purchased glasses from them. But I had paid for an eye test, and as professionals, they had a responsibility to ensure my prescription was accurate. Their refusal to take accountability was unacceptable.
Because of their mistake, I lost £200 on glasses that I can not return since I had already tried to adjust to them and removed the seal. I will take this as an expensive lesson learned, but I will never return to Bowen Opticians and will be reporting this incident to the relevant authorities. If you value good customer service and accountability, I strongly advise looking elsewhere.
