"Goss Shading Sublimate Pergola"

We ordered our Goss Shading Sublimate product at CostCo on November 23 2020. Final design sign-off for our 6m wide x 3.5m projection retractable, lit pergola, took place on December 23rd following a site visit. Multiple email follow-ups took place and the project was delivered to site site on May 4 2021. This was 8 weeks later than originally advised but we understand that the world has a pandemic and this has created challenges for all businesses. As part of the overall project we had a new patio terrace installed onto which the new pergola is being installed. The installation has been beset with issues: the fixing of wall brackets was time consuming and was subject to a statement of "If it doesn't work then we will redesign the structure and replace the wall brackets with 2 metal posts. Why this wasn't the design in the first place I don't know? The brackets were eventually fitted successfully and the process of installation continued. One glaring issue became apparent once the full structure was erected. My original order was for a structure with a 3.5m projection from the house. Because of the bracket design it actually projects just over 3.9m. whilst this is perhaps OK for some, for our project it meant the terrace design was compromised as the front legs are 40cm further forward than planned. After a rather tense discussion with Mr Serkan we decided to let them continue the installation and live with the issue. Mr Serkan offered to "Redesign the structure and have the pergola remanufactured in Turkey to meet the original design of a 3.5m projection". Whilst this is an admirable response, and bearing in mind we had already waited 5 months since order we decided to decline this offer as we were told it would be "a few months" to remanufacture and install the revised correct structure. As I write the Goss Shading team have spent 4 days on site - one of these purely to deliver their tools ( an amazing array of equipment and tools) plus the pergola and all its components. The installation has also been beset by problems in the positioning of the electrical sockets for the pergola motor and lighting. Having been provided with a marked-up photograph of my property with red marks to indicate the position of the sockets, we had them installed (Goss Shading do not do the electrical power work, except for plugging in their connecting cables). Once onsite they then said they were in the wrong place and advised me to have my electrician move them to a position they indicated. Meanwhile having shown my exasperation at these issues I am told installation will be completed Monday - subject to the weather. For a company erecting outdoor structures this seems difficult to understand. I suggested an awning - a pop-up one would be ideal to allow work to continue whilst the weather was inclement? As I write it's raining, I await the arrival of the Goss installation team (they normally arrive between 1030-1100am) as their office in Manchester is a 30 min drive from my property. I will update this review once installation is completed.

Update Post Installation Completion: Having arrived earlier on day 4 the installation team had a full 8 hour day which resulted in massive progress towards completion. We were left with a functioning pergola with the roof retracting and the lights working. Several finishing jobs remained which were left for 2 days to allow sourcing of materials. Final day of installation work was satisfactorily completed with some minor completion work once a final piece of capping arrives from the manufacturing facility in Turkey. Whilst this peice is required, it does not detract from the operation of the pergola. We are still disappointed that the projection is not as ordered, however, the product appears to be well manufactured and substantial in its construction. The delays and issues with the overall projection dimensions are frustrating, but we are beginning to enjoy the immediate benefit it brings in this wet spring weather, allowing us to make more use of our outside space.

It's over two years since our pergola was installed by Goss (Serkan was our prime contact and did an excellent job. We were immediately impressed with the quality of the construction and all components including the electric roof with dimmable lighting, the design, the drainage. Our bi-fold doors from our main lounge give direct and level access to our decking and the pergola. With the electric roof and wall mounted infrared heaters we have used it continuously and year round. During the pandemic it has been invaluable and I have even been able to hold 'covid safe' business meetings thanks to the pagola. Service has been excellent from Goss and I will not hesitate to recommend this company. Thank you

Update:
Product first installed June 2020, we pointed out a fault to GOSS on installation. Awning replaced Dec 2021 and now functioning. Rating changed to 3 star.

"The one or two issues that prevented me…"

The one or two issues that prevented me giving a 5 star rating were sorted out by the exceptional customer service and after sales service and for the most part we are extremely happy with the products purchased.
