"Recent Cycling Trip To Girona"
Recently returned from a trip to Girona organised by Ollie from Love Velo. I had 4 full days cycling and what a trip it was. Superbly organised, great hotel, wonderful cycling routes, quiet and smooth roads, lovely historic town. I could go on...!! There was nothing to fault my week in Girona.
Love Velo Organisation: Pre booking planning and quotation were very professional and provided exactly what I was looking for in a cycling holiday. Once booked, all of the booking confirmation information was fully and clearly detailed. Taxi pick-up to/from airport/hotel was on-time and comfortable, with kind and courteous drivers.
Hotel: Hotel Carlemany is right in Girona centre, so ideally located for access to cycling routes, restaurants and the historic town. Breakfast in the hotel was excellent, exactly as needed prior to each days ride. There were also many other cyclists staying there so good to have the opportunity to chat with others. The secure bike garage was also conveniently located below the hotel and had full facilities for ensuring the bike was ready for the following day.
Bike Hire: The bike was excellent and reliable throughout the week.
Rides: To top it all, the bike riding is difficult to surpass. Firstly, the area is very varied, there are just so many different local destinations, covering rolling open countryside, hills, wilderness and coastal areas. Once out of town, the roads are for the most part deserted, so a joy to ride on. The routes suggested by Love Velo took in some superb locations, Els Angels and St Marti Sacalm and the Susquada Dam being my personal highlights. Secondly, the road surfaces were a complete contrast to the UK! Not one pothole sighted on all 5 rides I did! Seriously!! Also in complete contrast to the UK, motor vehicle drivers were without exception considerate of cyclists. I didn't get close-passed all week, let alone cut-up. That's not to say that the roads in town aren't busy as they are, during weekdays, but in my experience, everybody respected everybody else and no dramas. The roads are safe. Unlike the UK.
Overall: Some of my comments above relate inherently to the Girona area itself, but Love Velo made it a well organised and extremely enjoyable trip. Everything worked as they said it would. If I was able, I would return to Girona tomorrow on a cycling holiday organised by Love Velo, hopefully I will in 2025.

"Very Happy"
You never know who to trust sometimes when trying to make a decision. This was how I felt when trying to sort out a tick box dream I had. I wanted to visit Majorca for four days to cycle some of the famous climbs. I came across Love Velo. Read all the reviews and took the plunge. From the first phone call I knew I had made the right choice. Within a few days may contact Raphael had a full quote emailed to me. I covered everything. But not quite. So back on the phone and asked. Can I have this, can I have that. No problem was the answer. New update, new quote and bang, we are off. Everything went like clockwork. A few tiny issues but once discussed again all sorted. I would and probably will use them again. If you are in doubt, give them a call nothing is to much trouble. They enjoy planning and helping your dream ride or holiday come true.

"Great cycling experience along the Canal du Midi, France"
From start to finish, Love Velo made planning this cycling adventure a pleasure. Tom was incredibly helpful, providing all the necessary details both before and after we booked. The information pack we received was comprehensive and made our preparation seamless.
Bikes
The bikes were fantastic—comfortable, well-equipped, and in excellent condition. They came with panniers, a handlebar bag, and a repair kit. Just make sure that helmets are also included.
Route: Toulouse to Sete
The route was wonderful, especially for those who enjoy cycling but aren't looking for challenging hills. The daily distances were manageable, allowing us time to explore. It was a great mix of scenic views and interesting stops.
Guibo App
We mainly used Strava for navigation, but I also liked using Guibo for its display. A downside was that it drained my phone's battery quickly, even with two power banks. The route on the last two days needs updating though, the app took us onto rough paths instead of the much-improved cycle lanes that are now available.
Hotels
The accommodation provided was excellent. All hotels were very well chosen and convenient located. Highlights included beautiful, character-filled hotels like Le Voyageur in Olonzac and Du Pont Vieux in Carcassonne. Excellent service and delicious breakfasts in every hotel (except for the one in Beziers)
Luggage Transport
Their luggage transport service was excellent. It made traveling between locations incredibly easy and hassle-free.
Thanks Love Velo, we are looking forward to our next trip and have already recommended Love Velo to several friends!

"Love Velo made a great recommendation…"
Love Velo made a great recommendation of a hotel base for my cycle holiday in the Pyrenees. They were really helpful at all times, quick to respond and also shared some excellent routes on ride with gps that were challenging and accurate.

"Amazing cycling in Mallorca with LV"
Myself and two others recently cycled in Mallorca with Love Velo.....We stayed in Port de Pollença at the Carbot Hotel and Spa with the bike hire literally within the hotel.....The whole process from sign up through to transfers and bike hire was outstanding and the Port area has lots of places to eat and drink aswell as a great beach.
We came home absolutely buzzing from the experience that we are now booking up for the Girona Gravel riding, which is also another Love Velo trip.
Would highly recommend to anyone the service and treatment we received.

"Five star cycling in Mallorca with LV"
Five star cycling in Mallorca with Love Velo this summer. The transfer to the hotel was seamless and the hotel itself was fantastic with stunning views of the sea and mountains. We were very lucky with the weather in early September and enjoyed some spectacular cycling routes around the north east of the island. The bikes were of an extremely high standard and the team at the bike shop were extremely helpful in making sure that the bikes were set up correctly for each individual. Overall, a great experience start to end and already planning next years trip. 👍

"Alpe D'Huez"
I made a very late decision to go to Bourg D'Oisans to climb Alpe D'Huez and so my booking was made at quite short notice but everything was handled for me quickly and efficiently. The service received from everyone was excellent and the trip itself was first class.

"Lovevelo were great"
James pulled a couple of quotes together based on different options very quickly. I made it clear I would not be able to commit to the holiday for a few weeks, this didn't cause Lovevelo any problems. The whole trip worked like clock work. The hotel provided healthy cycling friendly food which was a real bonus.

"Once in a lifetime disappointment "
Holiday to Alpe D'Huez booked pre Covid and as others have described Love Velo failed to meet their commitment. After much negotiation they gave us £200 if we booked this year. Very little went right from the moment we landed in Lyon. The instructions were inadequate. The car hire office was closed and we had to wonder around the almost deserted airport until we found someone who told us to take an airport bus to the car hire car parks. We didn't know the name of the car hire firm. This meant our drive to Alpe D'Huez was at first at dusk and then in the dark. Our chalet was off an unlit road and not visible in the dark. We ended up knocking on doors and asking in a local restaurant until we found a chef who took us to the well hidden chalet.
The next day at Bike Experience 21 my husband was given a light road bike suitable for the climb up Alpe D'huez. I'd booked an electric bike. I was given an heavy electric mountain bike without a charger. My immediate comment was "that looks very heavy" . The owner paid no attention to my worries. I spent the first day learning how to handle this monster and that evening realised there was no battery charger in the kit supplied. We had to leave early for the Alpe D'Huez climb because of the daytime temperatures and therefore before the shop opened. Needless to say 2K from the top the red battery light came on and I had to start the descent.
I'm an experienced road cyclist. I have only once used an electric bike 10 years ago and that wasn't a heavy unmanageable machine. I can't get the trip back and I'll never get up Alpe D'Huez.
We've waited to be asked for feedback and 2 weeks later have heard nothing from Love Velo.

Follow up following a telephone conversation with Love Velo.
We appreciated the prompt response to my review from Kevin at LoveVelo. I felt he was genuinely unhappy with the service I received at Bike Experience 21 and is going to follow this up to improve the service for future customers.
We were able to discuss the other difficulties we had and Kevin is planning to improve the instructions for future clients.
Thank you for listening.
