Its easy to use the Float option at checkout. Its convenient payment over six months without interests or levies. Its ideal for those pricey items that you want to pay off. Overall i love it. All the sellers should have the Float option.

"They don't even deserve a star"

They don't even deserve a star. I'm not happy at all. It happen that the first month the installment was as it is. Now they took all the money. I have to pay the interest because they have mislead me with their interest free payments. If I knew that this is nonsense I would have just payed cash.

"I am not sure who came up with this…"

Edit: Not only did they reserve the full amount R3998 they also go and debit the installement a few days later R998. They try be smart saying they don't take the R3998 but it is reserved and not on your card anymore so it's basically the same thing. My credit card is now in overdraft and I am going to have to pay a ton of fees. They are a bunch of smart as*es making excuses. Cancel the reserve amount and take your all your installments. Bunch of thieves. The most stupid idea ever, proudly South African. Stick to Payjustnow or Paylater because Float will take all your money x2.

I am not sure who came up with this idea but it is incredibly stupid. They charge you the full amount(it is reserved on your credit card). Then they charge you installments. Only once all the installments are done do you get your reserve back. So basically I could have just paid cash. Rather use Payjustnow my favourite or Paylater. What an absolute joke. Now I sit without a ton of money and constant debit orders taking extra.

"Seamless process with various payment options"

I love that there are various payment plan options. I love that trust is set from the get go, and I appreciate the fact that once my credit card and payment plan have been verified, I do not need to do anything additional. The debit orders are always on time and I like that there are reminders sent to me leading towards the date of the debit order.

The actual experience was nothing short of magical. It was evident that Float takes great pride in delivering top-notch experiences, and they succeeded in exceeding my expectations. What truly sets Float.co.za apart, however, is their impeccable customer service. "Here is what Float doesn't tell you…"

Here is what Float doesn't tell you upfront or on their website
1. They take the reserve off you card every 21 days
2. Somewhere between the 3rd and 4th payment, 2 reserves will go off your card in the same month. This means you will have to have double the reserve amount available on your credit card.
3. The 2nd reserve taken off your card in the same month will be for the previous month's reserve amount, even though you may have paid your current installment - so they take off the 2nd reserve for an amount greater than your outstanding balance. This is not reflected in your payment schedule from float when you buy the item
4. The reserve amounts can remain as unavailable funds on your account for 3 to 4 weeks and you don't have access to these funds on your card during this time. You need to have these funds available in your card and make sure you don't need to access them.
I'm not sure why none of this is actually specified in their faq's or terms and conditions.
I won't ever be using float again!
