"The most memorable holiday of our lives!"

We visited Pakistan with Wild Frontiers in May 2015 to see the Kalash people celebrate their Joshi festival and travel along the Hindu Kush. This was our second holiday with Wild Frontiers and we are booked to go back to India with them in 2016.
This was simply the best holiday we have ever been on. Wild Frontiers offers 'off the tourist track' holidays supported by meticulous planning and first class local guides. The tour itineraries are put together to provide a varied experience that gives the traveller a meaningful, slightly challenging, interesting and thought provoking holiday. A holiday with Wild Frontiers will certainly be memorable and will provide a real insight into the local people and culture.
I am very happy to recommend Wild Frontiers to anyone who is seeking something different to the run of the mill holidays provided by many of their competitors.

"My first stop searching for an adventurous trip"

I've travelled with Wild Frontiers several times starting in 2008, to 4 different continents. Each of the trips has been intense, fun and adventurous and well balanced.

"Wild Frontiers Persian explorer"

With Wild Frontiers I have been a traveller rather than a tourist visiting important Silk Road cities including Merv in Turkmenistan and Herat in Afghanistan.

In August I journeyed to Iran on the Persian Explorer highlights tour. The tour began in Shiraz which is home to the very colourful and lively Bazar e Vakil. After wandering around the myriad of shops selling silks, carpets and spices we lunched with locals in the atmospheric Seray e mehr teahouse attached to the bazar. We enjoyed a flavour of local dishes including dizi accompanied by a tutorial by our local guide who also happens to be a cookery teacher!

Finishing our day we watched the sun setting and the stars sparkling over the tomb of the poet Hafez which is a pilgrimage site for locals who ask for favours and sit reading his poetry.

Yadz was dotted with badgirs(wind towers), a sophisticated engineering system for keeping homes cool. It was really enjoyable to walk along the old city streets, picturing the family life going on behind the doors of the many homes we passed. We interrupted our stroll to watch bakers at work and taste bread straight out of the kiln.

With anticipation we walked on to Nasqh Jahan Square in Esfahan and what a sight to behold. The second largest square in the world with mosques, palace, tree lined promenades, fountains and the many shops laden with the blue ceramics associated with esfahan.

The Hotel Abbasi where we stayed in Esfahan had previously been a caravanserai. While sitting in the busy courtyard watching families meeting up, you could imagine the guests of long ago settling down for the night exchanging information on their life and journeys on the Silk Road with the other travellers who had stopped for a rest.

The Wild Frontiers tour leader and local guide selected very quirky and interesting restaurants throughout the trip with varied menus so that our time for relaxation was also enjoyable.

A journey is often about the people you meet and the Iranian people certainly lived up to their reputation for friendliness which is the essence Silk Road travel.

"Great personalised add-on to another trip we had organised"

We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary with a luxury cruise to the Galapagos Islands, but wanted to explore Ecuador for a few days before the cruise. Wild Frontiers were extremely helpful in suggesting what proved to be a most enjoyable few days exploring some of the highlights of a fascinating country. Everything went smoothly from the moment we touched down in Quito to our farewell to guide and driver in Cuenca. Brilliant!

"Making the wilds feel safe"

I really appreciated how well we were taken care of by our Wildfrontiers guide on a recent trip the souther Caucasus. He kept everything running smoothly and invisibly for us in the background so we could focus on soaking up the experience. The accommodations were perfect and the trip felt just the right amount of cushy: any more and it would have felt overly-pampered and indulgent; any less and it would have been unpleasant. This trip satisfied my reasons to choose a tour over independent travel (see things I wouldn't necessarily seek out on my own and lessen the burden of the daily decisions of where to eat, where to sleep, etc. without the downsides of group travel (feeling like a herd of sheep, sticking with the tried and true tourist trails).

"Wildfrontiers has consistently provided us with numerous outstanding adventures."

We choose to travel with Wildfrontiers because we like being part of a small group and can experience a more indepth experience of the countries we visit. The guides have been more that helpful, going out of their way to get the best of any situation. We like the type of adventures they offer and after 7 trips we will be looking for more.

"Superb well organised and interesting tours"

I have used Wild Frontiers for seven tours, Colombia, Iran, Vietnam & China, Borneo, Ecuador & Galapagos, Namibia, Bolivia, and each has been excellent, very well organised, with many highlights, some unusual, as well as visiting local people in their own homes. Tour leaders have been very good and local guides informative. Groups have been small. I look forward to more tours in the future with Wild Frontiers.

"Ethiopia and the Danakil"

This is one of the best trips I have ever been on. Ethiopia won my heart when I visited the northern circuit in April 2014 and I wanted to see more of the country on another visit. What can I say. The sights to see were incredible - from climbing up to the Erta Ale Volcano during dusk and seeing the glow from the lava as we approached it to standing there and watching the lava bubble away. We saw the salt flats and the incredible digging for salt in incredible temperatures and the camel trains taking the salt away. We visited Dallow and saw and smelt the incredible Sulphur pools. In additon we stopped at various markets and villages along the way seeing what local life was like. Wild Frontiers Tour Leader Dario Ghirlanda was fantastic, attending to our every need with out fuss or argument. He was calm and collected at all times and just knew how to organise and lead a tour. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he arranged things expertly. You couldn't wish for a better tour leader. Overall Wild Frontiers trips are all excellent with good tour leaders brilliantly thought out itineraries. Everything is included including water which saves all the issues when stopping for a cup of coffee or just wanting a supply of water. All entrance fees are included as is plenty of food. You never go hungry or thirsty on a Wild Frontiers trip. Although appearing to be slightly more expensive than equivalent trips because they include everything and are smaller group sizes you get your monies worth. Would thoroughly recommend Wild Frontiers

"Bangladesh - but not as advertised."

As soon as we arrived in Dhaka we were told that the itinerary would need to be changed, due to political problems in the cities. This is exactly how it should be with Adventure Travel.

We were able to spend far more time in villages with the locals than anticipated and on ad-hoc boat trips to islands.

Our tour leader and local guide seemed to take it all in their stride, although I'm sure it was like the serene swans, paddling madly, unseen.

"Travelling in North West Pakistan with Wild Frontiers"

In December 2014 a small group of people visited the remote Kalash Valley in North West Pakistan. I appreciate this is not a country normally associated with tourism, but Wild Frontiers have been running trips to Pakistan since their inception 10 years ago. I have enjoyed five previous trips with Wild Frontiers and with their wealth of local knowledge and contacts in the remote areas adjacent to the Afghan frontier, gave me the confidence in them to undertake this particular trip. The trip had it's share of security issues but WF and their local partner provided us with an exceptional and unique experience. I thoroughly recommend Wild Frontiers to you.
