"Shocking Service"

Where do I start?

I’m not one to write reviews for anywhere, but I’m genuinely disgusted at the customer service and attitude this dealership has given me. I cannot speak for every customer that walks through the door, however I’ve seen a couple reviews already talking about the shady business this company partakes in.

On the 2nd February 2024 I had taken out a PCP plan on a 2021 Skoda Fabia Estate. After being treated like a king by their dealers and love being tossed around in the air, I assumed I’ve been hit with a stroke of luck and had just bought a “boss car” for a “cheap price”.

After 2 months of driving this vehicle locally, to and from work with the longest drive being roughly 14 miles, my clutch had given way completely. Recovery service had towed my car back to the dealership to have the car repaired. The man sent out by my insurance was great and backed me on this not being my fault as you can smell a burnt clutch, he claimed that the clutch has been an issue for sometime for it to just go with no signs of deterioration. After speaking with the mechanics (whom by the way, you cannot contact directly) I was greeted by either the manager or owner of this dealership who had the nerve to tell me that the clutch is classed wear and tear and the replacement + repairs would be a burden to my own pocket. However, after some negotiating they seen fit that the clutch shouldn’t have give way so early on with only a few miles put onto the clock and so repaired it on the house. Blinded by the gratitude of this I thought nothing of the earlier comment of the replacement having to come out of my pocket.

Roughly a fortnight later, after arriving to site and receiving my specifications for the day I attempted to set off to work. The car wouldn’t move an inch. A bolt in which kept my engine from swivelling inside the bonnet “snapped” as they simply put it.

Again, recovery towed the car to the dealership and in all fairness they sorted it the same day.

Since then I’ve had nothing but horrible noises coming from the car. I overlooked the car upon buying it on the day and hadn’t spotted the several faults with it apart from one which was a shattered wing mirror with a temporary one stuck over the damage.

After sending emails about various things and rightfully expressing my dissatisfaction and disappointment with the car they arranged a fault diagnostic with me. I attended, it was completed and they tell me nothing is wrong but the noise is most likely coming from the damage done to my grill and bumper. It looked like it had been smashed. Grill was cracked and my left side bumper was hanging out. I took it on the chin and accepted that someone may have hit my car without me knowing. That was until about a month ago when I was washing my car and a ton of paint on the left side of the bumper come off with ease. Hand wash, not a jet wash. It got me thinking and so I started looking at photos Solo Cars had on the website of my Skoda Fabia before I inquired about it. Would you believe it, the same crack in the grill and the same bumper sticking out. They pinned the damage on me, the botched body work job that I had failed to notice had always been there.

I’m at a point now where I feel my clutch is starting to go again, a year after a brand new one was put in. I’ve just recently inquired about the works on my car and what exactly was done.
The reply from them?

“Hi (my name) unfortunately your warranty has expired on the 2/01/2025”

That’s all I heard back from that email.

This company will take your money and once it’s in their pockets, you don’t mean a thing to them. Fobbed me off multiple times and I’m sick of it.

I’m sure there may be a reply to this review. Something along the lines of ‘we’re a genuine family business’ or ‘we refute the allegations of being shady’. All which has been heard before over countless emails of my complaints.

All in all, do not, under any circumstances use this business to buy, lease or finance a car. I will not be recommending it to anyone and will in fact deter people from this dealership given they ever bring it up.

Sort your “genuine” family business out and stop scamming the people of Liverpool.
