"Exclusionary and Expensive"

While I enjoyed doing the SNT meetings for my future goals, I think this program is very exclusionary towards minorities and marginalized groups of people because in order to grow as a person and grow your leadership skills, you have to have a specific amount of money. I understand that people need to be paid, but the amount of money that is being asked is horrendous. And from my experience, it didn't seem that I would have to pay that much money for this program. I knew that I had to pay the $95 to get in (which I didn't agree with, but I bit my tongue and decided that it would pay off), but no one ever told me that in order to move up in the courses and certifications, I would have to spend money that I didn't have. I feel like while this program can potentially offer some benefits, it takes advantage of people and indirectly puts down marginalized groups of people by giving more privileged people more advantages. I understand that a lot of people don't think that $95 is a lot of money, but it was for me. And now that I know in order to move up in this program, I have to spend a lot more money, I don't think I will be able to advance just because of the money issue. This is a very sad and discouraging thing because there are lots of people who want to better themselves, their leadership skills, and their careers, but can't because of the money limitations.

The NSLS helped me find my confidence in my abilities and learn how to voice my opinions and thoughts professionally. The networking teams helped with building a network of successful people without the fear of being judged or discriminated against. I loved how supportive everyone is and how they genuinely want everyone to succeed. Being a member is truly a great experience that I will cherish and look at as a tool to help me in my future goals in my studies, career, and personal life.
