They say that everybody has at least one book inside them, bursting’ to get out.
So, if you answer that literary calling and, put ‘pen to paper’, you suddenly find yourself hooked. You are immersed. The joy of writing consumes you and you surprise yourself by producing a brilliant manuscript.
When you finally overcome the burden of self-doubt about the merits of your ‘baby’ then what do you do with it?
You decide to get it published and share your ‘genius’ with the world.
But you’ve heard about ‘slush’ piles of unpublished manuscripts, and you find out that only one in ten manuscripts submitted through an agent to a publisher actually make it and get published.
So, frustrated by this potential roadblock to literary fame, many people turn to self-publishing.
In my case I turned to Grosvenor House Publishing for my first novel. I was extremely satisfied with the overall package offered, so consequently I have used their services for all of my eleven novels.
They have cheerfully guided me through the wonderful experience of becoming a published author.
Their advice and professional processes have relieved me of the various administrative ‘mechanics’ of getting the book published and allowed me to concentrate on ironing out overlooked errors.
It's amazing how, in spite of your own proofreading, there are still many undetected slipups in the manuscript and the GHP process to ensure the final document is perfect is surprisingly easy and patiently completed.
Finally, the document is published and with your cover design, at last you are out there. You are you are a published author with an ISBN number, all thanks to the professionalism of GHP staff.
Things like delivery and obtaining copies of your book; through the print on demand service is a godsend.
An important aspect of your creation is getting royalty payments in the bank and my experience is that it happens seamlessly.
All in all, a good package price, which has been relatively stable ever since my first novel was published in 2011.
Then just to feel good about your achievement, you can be forgiven for indulging in a ‘JR Hartley moment’, by going into a book shop and ordering a copy of your own book.
