"I'm in control now"

My dietician is patient, calm, practical, non judgemental and full of practical suggestions. I have never felt talked down to. She's like a clever friend who knows how to help, not enable. I'm about halfway into the program and have lost weight and my Dr is thrilled with my cholesterol numbers that have come down significantly. Best of all I feel empowered and not on a diet. For the first time in my life I feel like I'm in control of the food and the decisions around it. I am not being dragged around by the teeth anymore. I make my own decisions and I don't catastrophise about eating a cupcake or Easter egg anymore. I can keep it in perspective and not let it get out of hand. This has NEVER been my experience before!

"I joined Miyagi after years of failed “diets”…"

I joined Miyagi after years of failed diet attempts and just craving and hoping for something better. I was gifted Clare as my dietitian and across each session we slowly changed and/or improved on different areas of my diet and life in general. I learned so much from my time, with little courses and extra bits of information added to the app, and took on the advice from Clare for extra reading and websites I could search through. Things I didn’t expect to gain from my time here, was a much more positive view of myself and my life, more confidence and just changed my ideas about weights and the numbers on the scale in general. If you need a life shake-up I highly recommend giving Miyagi a go and be sure to really make use of your time and sessions with them. It’s well worth it!
*I feel like as a side note I should add, my bloods at the end were near perfect and it’s even given me the tools to help bring down my husband’s cholesterol levels too.

"Miyagi has saved my life"

I was desperate to take control of my failing health and had struggled for some time to make the necessary changes. I would do the usual 'watching what I eat', but soon fell back into old habits at the 'drop of a hat'. Exercise had long become non-existent and even walking was just too hard. I was in a slow spiral towards serious illness. I was dangerously overweight, my cholesterol was too high, my liver function wasn't perfect and my insulin was way outside the healthy range. I was desperate!

When I heard about Miyagi I was curious to understand how the program could help me. After my initial chat with Miyagi I decided to join.

Initially, I experienced the typical mental struggles that arise when faced with uncomfortable change. However, this time I was determined and commited to making the necessary changes. I allowed myself to be guided by my dietitian and I watched and read all the material offered. I made a concerted effort to implement change.

My weekly chats with my dietitian have been critical to my success. The support and encouragement when chatting about my goals and my successes and challenges makes me feel like someone has my back. I enjoy the personal accountability these calls give me.

After approximately four months on the program I am feeling amazing. People are commenting on how great I'm looking. I can see obvious signs of weight loss (I choose not to weigh myself), I have increased energy, I exercise most days doing pilates, walking and deep water walking, my skin looks fabulous and recently I had a blood pressure reading of 125/77 - the best it has been in years.

The changes Miyagi has supported me through are life changing. Getting moving, food portion control, mindful eating and making healthier food choices are now a way of life for me. I'm excited to learn more about plant based eating - something I never expected to happen.

If you're ready for change and want to be committed to improving your health, then Miyagi is for you. I know that it has turned my life around.

"I think the best things about the…"

I think the best things about the Miyagi program are the weekly sessions with the dietician, the meal planning resources, the Facebook support group and Dr Walker's sessions. By far the best thing is the time with Shanae each week. She has been kind, supportive, well informed and gently directional. I feel so much happier about my health and food choices. I am exercising more and am able to enjoy eating good food. Although the website is a bit clunky, once you learn how it works, it is very helpful.

"The multifaceted approach is what works"

I have tried soo many programs over the last 40 years to lose weight and stay healthy. The difference with this one that makes it successful is it joins the physical, emotional and psychological issues together which all play a part in determining why I failed in the past.

"Learn everything to improve my health in sport and fitness"

My dietitian Megan was fantastic, she provided all the information and guidance I needed for healthy lifestyle and sporting events/trainings.
It was a worth 26 weeks to learn everything on Healthie app.

"It works!"

After years of trying numerous diet plans, I too was skeptical. Even the onboarding process didn’t fill me with confidence. Since actually starting however, my dietician Gabby and I have worked hard to succeed. Goal setting for accountability; weekly videos or information sheets explaining the hows and whys. To date, many kilos lost and confidence that I will continue this plan for the remainder of my life. It works! It’s easy to follow. I am feeling the health benefits, friends tell me I look great. Highly recommend Heart Smart programme and especially Gabby!

"Happy customer"

I'm into 16th weeks of the program. I was skeptical to start with because of the cost. I'm glad I stayed on it. I have a good dietitian/coach in LUCY. She's been with me all along and we have fortnightly catch up.

She has been very encouraging, helpful and open to discussions. I'm T2D and have trouble maintaining good blood sugar levels. Under her guidance and suggestions, my blood results taken recently are all wonderful. My GP is happy with it.

I have become more mindful of my diet and meal portions. I am now more aware of what food would spike my sugar level. Since diarising my meals as sugested by Lucy has been a great help. Whatever and whenever I need further information on, Lucy will find them and for a and to me. (Thanks Lucy).

I have lost half of my intended weight. But am not fixated on the scale! My clothes are loose on me and my family members have commented on my weight loss.

So on this note, thank you to all Miyagi staff providing the videos on meal preps, exercises and updates. Especially to Dr Ross, his presentation is always very informative. I have to watch the replay as I helped with Food Bank on Thursdays.

At the end of the program, am wondering if I can have a monthly follow up for a couple of months to ensure I haven't fallen off the wagon. It would be good for personal morale. Thank you.

"Disappointed!"

My Dietician Penny was fantastic! ... very helpful and encouraging. After 14 wks on the program I developed some health issues and felt I couldn't continue ... both mentally & physically. Was told by Miyagi that cancellations weren't permitted and to call Openpay. Upon calling them, they said that all I needed was to cancel the program through Miyagi then Miyagi would notify them and payments would cease. Rang Miyagi AGAIN, was told that I could have a few months reprieve, then continue program ... but no cancellation of payments. Was not told that there was any conditions under which I could cancel. If after the 2 months reprieve from consultations I was still unable to participate, then they would give me another month reprieve .... and so it would continue. I simply wish to cancel, then continue at a later date when I feel that my health conditions would enable me to. I am now going to seek letter from GP and TRY to cancel under section 8 of the contract ... as I've read on other reviews, but were not successful in their attempt.

"Money Grab stay away"

After dealing with an online sales person, I was encourage to sign up for the program which I did on 16/01/23. After making an appointment with my Doctor to arrange for the blood tests, it was found that I had a health condition that needed attending to. My doctor wrote a letter to confirm this and I applied under Section 8 of the Terms and conditions to cancel the program. This was on 27/1/23, so two weeks in. There was a $616 cancellation fee and $308 for two dietician consults. After talking with a "Miyagi Coach" and disputing the charges I agreed as I was just too ill to continue arguing. This was 02/02/23. My afterpay account has not been cancelled as they require another $180 to finalise the plan and until I pay they wont send through the paperwork I am led to believe. So for two weeks on the program it has cost me $924.00. Plenty of phone calls and emails when you are a "live" member but that all goes out the window when you cancel. It was only by contacting my dietician that she arranged for me to get a call back today from my Miyagi Coach.

Here is what section 8 says.

8. If, as a result of medical advice (which is confirmed in writing), it is no longer advisable for you to continue receiving
our services (ie “exceptional circumstances” occur), then you should discuss with us terminating these arrangements. In
such exceptional circumstances, but not otherwise, we will normally refund the upfront fee, less reasonable
reimbursement to us for the services already provided to you (if any).
