I rang this company late on a Friday afternoon seeking some info. on their twin speed controller . I had a very helpful conversation about the product , I was impressed by the frankness of the answers for this self assembly unit . Very confident there was support if I needed it so happy to place an order .

Ordered a Smoothflow Train Controller kit just before Christmas and I have only just got around to building it.

Very impressed, a truly comprehensive kit and although I am no soldering expert I found it straightforward enough to assemble. Just sufficiently taxing to give you a sense of achievement!

The controller kit is a little tricky to assemble as the wires are so fine, difficult to strip the insulation back without cutting through the wire, especially the LED wire tails. I have also added a voltmeter and an ammeter to one track output so had to get three wires into the one cable block on the speed control module so again tricky. The technical support from Andrew was brilliant covering every aspect of the build and answered all my question both prior and during building the kit. Most of the build was straight forward, the fiddly bit was soldering the very fine wires onto the rotary reversing polarity switch pins. If you are not experienced with a soldering iron, some practice before attempting the build would help. Either that or ask Andrew to include the pre-wired reversing switch in the kit which he sells separately on his website for a small additional cost over the non-wired version which is supplied in the kit as standard. Have yet to put it to a functional test with loco's on track but have tested voltage at outputs and all good. Considering the price of controllers made by the two main manufacturer's retailing today, if you are capable of building the kit, this is an amazing saving over those and you can stand back and say "I made that".
