"Extremely well priced"

It's extremely well priced. The customer service was relatively good, however, I didn't feel completely confident with the answer I got regarding residency status. It was quite vague.

I've had a lot of problems clarifying a query of the policy. Have been told 2 different conflicting things on the phone and no one has replied to the 2 emails I sent. If I don't get clarification in writing soon I will have no choice but to cancel before the 14 day cooling off period is up.

On the plus sides for them they are very reasonably priced and easily contactable by phone.

Buying the insurance was a breeze but I can't comment on what it is liking claiming from Backpackers, and I hope I don't have to :-)

Overall it was easy to set up cover. A little confusion over existing medical conditions as I had to make 2 calls to get this confirmed.

"Double charged me the premium and now not responding to my emails sent over a week ago"

I booked my travel insurance online and when I arrived in Thailand and tried to withdraw funds from my account for accommodation my card was declined for payment. After a lots of hassle and time spent finding an internet cafe I found out Backpackertravelinsurance had double charged me for my insurance premium which I had booked a few days before!
I did not have any issues with payment on the website when paying it was very straightforward and worked first time I was not asked to re-enter any details so I am puzzled as to why I have been double charged. The 0845 number will cost a lot from Thailand and I have no money to make the call thank to being double charged so email was my only option. I emailed them on the email ID from their website and despite waiting several days for a response I still have nothing from them. This has obviously left me in a very difficult situation very far from home. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEIR SERVICE IS VERY POOR.

"Straightforward and clear insurance provision"

I really liked the way you could select any activities which were deemed higher risk individually, rather than having to increase your premium in big chunks. A solid insurance provider, I'm pleased to have taken insurance out with them and hope it covers me for any eventuality when travelling.

A very quick renewal for a son who was in Canada and prolonged his stay for a further 12 months. This could not have been made easier at a time when any parent would be concerned that everything happened quickly.

As Backpackertravelinsurace is just a front (one of many) for Blue Insarances Ltd, there's a bit of ambiguity and vagueness in some of the text on the website.

Their offerings are simple and easy to understand, the policy wording is excellent. It would perhaps be better if the links with OSG and ACE Insurance were clearer (other than purchasing the insurance through Backpackertravelinsurance, there appears to be little to nothing they do once the insurance is purchased!)

I've yet to make a claim or go through the claims process, but have had previous experience with ACE Insurance under previous insurance policies, who have been brilliant.
