The same thing happened to me with Allen and Harris. I arranged to see a house in Stoke Gifford with Alex. He cancelled this appointment after I had set off to see the house ( a 160 mile return journey) saying it was under offer so they cancelled the viewing. They seemed more interested in selling financial products than houses. There is something underhand in this and they are not acting in the interests of buyers or sellers. I will try never to patronise them again.

"Cheated out of house offer"

I enquired about a house sale and requested home report and viewing, the manager of irvine branch agreed to arrange this, 2 days later they phoned and said the house was under offer, and the owner accepted a quick sale offer, i feel cheated out of a viewing and potentially buying this house. I had no house to sell having sold ny home in november 2019, i was cash buyer ready to buy this property. The manageress not only decided who could buy this house but cheated sellers out of making more money. She stated she done nothing wrong, i disagree, she would not give me head office number but stated her area manager a Mr Farmer would call me, im still waiting. This has put me off having anything to do with this estate agent, and i will avoid any house sale they are involved in.
I feel something underhand has went on with this house sale.

They have not put tenants deposit into protection service for three weeks. When asked why, the staff at the accounting department in Bath said they cannot find out the bank details of DPS, so they can not transfer the money they kept to DPS.

BEWARE!!! Any end of tenancy cleaners; if you're approached by Ben Shaw from Allen & Harris Didcot, I advise you do NOT undertake any work given by him. You will NOT be paid; after months of lies and excuses, I have still not been paid by him, despite having emails from landlords and others within the company that all payment has been approved. He is lying, and thieving, and should be avoided at all costs. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but please please please be aware!!!!

"The worst Estate agent ever- AVOID"

The worst Estate agent ever- this company is a joke. I wish there was an option to give zero or minus stars to this company.
I still regret and curse myself for chosing a house from Allen & Harris (Stoke Gifford) over another estate agent. The rent was higher but it was a walking distance to work I decided to take it and it was my biggest mistake,

We saw the house while tenants were still living in it. I asked the agent if the house will be properly cleaned and redecorated (Painted over previous tennants decoration) The agent said house will be cleaned after current tenants move out and will be ready completley when we move in but nothing such happened. Allen & Harris did not even bother to visit the property after tenant left forget about cleaning,

When we moved in the house was stinking. The clock room flush was broken and previous tenant has left it as it is after dumping in it. So the house was full of human waste smell when we entered in it. We had to wait couple of hours outside (And pay extra to movers and packers for waiting). As we moved in we realised the house was left without cleaning a bit. The carpet was filthy and full of small insects, the kitchen was stinky and full of sauce splashes everywhere, the walls were dirty and full of holes, marks and mold throughout the house. The garden was not trimmed since months (Or may be years it looked like) and full of animal waste.

Not only cleaning but Allen & Harris did not bother to check if there was any maintanance issue before giving keys to us. The whole house has pluming issue which means water doesnt go down in any sink or bathroom. The boiler doesnt boil water so we have been taking cild shower - including our 16 months old daughter. The washing machine they provided is so old and out of service. Our daughter get skin allergey when she wore a dress after being washed in that machine.

For first few days we had to stay at friend's house and thought Agent will sort everything out but its been now nearly a month but nothing has happned.

We cant assemble furniture untill Agent gets the house cleaned so we been sleeping on the floor since we moved in. Our daughter has been down with fever and skin allergy ever since we moved in and she is still ill. I got asthama due to mold and I had to clean it myself as Allen & Harris apparently thinks House does not need a cleaning between tenancies and as long as it has walls and ceiling it is upto stanard.

I have contacted my local citizen advise bureu and will take a legal action but would advise everyone to avoid this agency at any cost. They neither have moral nor care for their customers.

"This agency is a complete joke"

This agency is a complete joke. The day I involved them in the sale of my house I regretted it. First the Branch Manager went off sick and that was the start of our problems. Their surveyor couldn’t even work out the size of our house correctly and underestimated the size of it by nearly a third, and was way out with the valuation. The Area Director was supposed to sort it all out, but I later found out he didn’t even know who to contact in Connells Surveyors. The final straw was they hadn’t even the decency to cancel the contract and let us get an agent who knows how to sell a house. Avoid Allen And Harris Hamilton at all costs!

"Allen and Harris Swindon:- Buyers Avoid"

Allen and Harris Swindon:- I am still in shock over the treatment I have received as a buyer. Firstly when I put in a offer I was told it was a repossession property held by a firm and my offer could take 6/8 weeks to approve no problem, it took two weeks. This was November. January comes no movement blamed on this process, February comes the story changes that the owner hasn’t evicted the tenant yet. (What owner I thought) but told the repossession story they had never said I have emails to prove otherwise comes to April has just started tenant still not evicted and I get word from my solicitor it has a doubling ground rent, turns out Allen and Harris have tried to sell this property multiple times and it has always fallen through and you would have thought knowing the information they did they would have mentioned something in the 6 months I’ve been waiting for the sale to go through. Would never ever use again, they tell so many different stories and are willing to sell you a unsellable property. When asked about why all the stories and all the time I was told go ask my solicitor. Not really caring about the customer or moral.

"Don't trust Allen & Harris!"

Awful service by Allen & Harris. Booked in 2 viewings back to back with them... got there and no one was around. When I called, they told me that the second property had gone already and that someone should have rang me and cancelled the whole appointment (I guess they'd just decided not to do it?!). No one had and they had no answer for why that was the case. The woman on the phone was nice and offered to drop everything and come out to me in around 15 mins but I had other viewings booked in and had to move on.

They also said they'd keep in touch with me about new properties coming on the market... I was keeping an eye out and saw various new ones that were suitable and never heard a peep from them.
