"Dreadful service from Allen and Harris…"

Dreadful service from Allen and Harris Stratton Branch and especially Steve Hudson. This branch used to be fantastic and I bought my house from them over 3 years ago but how things have changed. Luckily I had brilliant agents selling my property (Richard James) but have the misfortune of buying one through Steve at Allen and Harris in Stratton who is totally useless.He has lied, been uncommunicative and never even supplied me with the property details that I'm buying. Without any assistance from Steve, we're finally nearing completion and I've been trying, without success to contact Steve for the past 2 days but he's refusing to answer my emails or calls. This review is solely of the Stratton branch but I would suggest you re-think your agents if you're in this catchment area

"Calne branch"

Calne branch, Wiltshire.
Not a good estate agent. We set the price they advised and a fixed fee to go with that Price listed. Iwas struggling to sell the property, so paid extra to have a photo pack and additional marketing, although I thought all this was part of an estate agents job anyway.
In the end I sold the property with a drop of 10% to get the house sold, so I could move into our dream cottage.
However they failed to tell me that if I dropped the price, as they advised me to do, that the fees would remain the same, bit remiss of them one might say. And at no point when they said to drop the price did they mention this. I did request that they dropped their fees to come in line with what I had dropped the sale price by 10%, totally blanked on that one, a few hundred pounds was all I was asking and I had already paid and extra £200 which was a waste of time.
They wouldn't talk to my wife, and to be honest we're quithe dismissive to her. I travel a lot so it was critical that while I was away she could deal with matter.
Arrogant, rude and dismissive. I know they probably state the agreement said, small print etc.
I wasn't trying to pay no fee I was just trying to be fair.
I should have stayed with the Butfield Breach who were informative and kept me aware every step. I am sure they could also have sold it at the price I eventually sold it for, without the hassle and extra cost, my mistake in changing.

"Very Bad Experience"

On Friday 29 April we went to Allen & Harris (A&H) to arrange the sale of our house and paid the required marketing fees. Over the weekend we changed our mind and went straight back to the branch at 10am on Monday 2 May (bank holiday) to cancel. We were told that “as nothing had happened yet (i.e. the photographer/surveyor were not arranged), we would be entitled to a full refund”. We spent the next 8-9 weeks trying to get our money back but were continually fobbed off with excuses and lies...the system is down…it should be paid soon…it should be in your account in a few days…it will take 3-5 working days…, none of which happened. Despite 12-15 emails some of which were not replied to, several phone calls and visits to the branch, the delay in paying this refund just got longer and longer. We asked for the contact details of a senior person with whom we could register a complaint but this was never provided. On Friday 17 June we contacted Resolver, an online consumer complaints company and raised our complaint through them. They emailed our complaint to A&H customer services department in Leighton Buzzard. (At no time did the branch inform us that such a place existed.) A member of staff from this department then started to communicate with us trying to resolve this issue by expediting the payment of our refund. This involved yet more emails and phone calls. However, even then on one occasion they did not call us back when promised. Eventually, on 28 June (58 days after we cancelled) we at last received our refund in our account. This whole fiasco proved to be very frustrating and stressful and if this is an example of A&H’s customer service, we are very glad that we changed our mind when we did and did not proceed with our sale. I will be relating this whole saga to as many people as possible to highlight the way we were treated and the ridiculous delay to payment of a refund which should have been accomplished in days as originally promised, not months.
We would definitely NOT recommend this company to anyone.
